But I guess it wouldn't be the best guy they could get, since there's still a sizable amount of intriguing 3B the Red Sox could inquire on, like Nick Castellanos and Adrian Beltre. Nick Castellanos is someone I believe could still be decent. It's harder on the pitching side, but I really want to believe in Rafael Montero, even though he's a complete mess at the moment. (DanDaMan from Sea Cliff)		Two White Sox - Alexei Ramirez and Melky Cabrera - jump out as players who just have to turn it around. Neither one of them is this bad, and the White Sox in general are a much better team than they have shown so far. Nick Castellanos is another guy who I have seen some signs will get better; he is more of a player than this and should improve. If you're looking for a bigger name, Matt Kemp started out slow last year before going nuts. If you have an owner with an itchy trigger finger, he's the guy to go after on that "buy low" proposition. He's looked somewhat better as the season's gone on and should be fine in the future, but in the short term, some left-handed help at the hot corner wouldn't hurt--which is something that one could also say about the Braves and Royals. (DJ from Detroit)		Castellanos has been just about what I expected at this point. The defense at third base has been hit or miss and generally below-average in my opinion. The offense has had swoons, but he has demonstrated an ability to make adjustments and develop as a hitter. The power is still evolving, and will continue to evolve as his approach matures. I still think he's a borderline All-Star caliber player at his peek and nothing that's happened this season has caused me to shift off that opinion. (Mark Anderson)

Castellanos' season, while unimpressive on paper, has made me more confident that he's going to be a damn good hitter. At the beginning of the year, he was swinging at everything, and only going to RCF with authority, as is his comfort zone. Then, pitchers adjusted, stopped throwing him strikes that he could handle, and he struggled. Since, he's readjusted, and started hitting the ball with authority to left and LCF. It's a game of adjustments, and Nick's showing that he can make them. I can see some .295/.350/.475 slash lines in his future. Kid can really hit. (Jordan Gorosh)

Thoughts? It turned out to be rather divisive on the league message boards. FWIW, Castellanos was blocked at 3B by Matt Carpenter and my OF is now potentially the best in the league (Harper, Jones & Billy Hamilton)

That's a far deeper league than I've ever been in, so it's hard for me to know what the value of Colon, Arroyo, etc. carry. Craig Goldstein said it was fine though, so I'm inclined to trust him.

I think there's some shock value because you traded young for old (excepting Jones) but, speaking from my experiences, prospects get overvalued in keeper leagues. You're trying to win now, so you made a win-now trade. I get it. (R.J. Anderson)

As much as I love Manny, I also have Nick Castellanos to be my 3B ... yeah, he may not have Manny's upside but Moore could be a long-term ace/co-ace of my staff for years to come. It will take some work and continued development for him to be better than what Cabrera provided when he was healthy, which in spite of the jokes, wasn't all that bad. (Chris from Dallas, TX)		First and foremost, check your league's eligibility rules. In my leagues, Nick Castellanos is eligible at outfield only because that's where he played in 2013 in the minors. Long term you are correct though; Castellanos' value is helped by the move to third base. I do like him but I don't feel like he's a monster, and down the road 20-25 home runs at his peak are more likely than 30-35. He is very young though, so obviously there are a lot of different outcomes. His ceiling is likely as a 5th round player in a standard mixed league, or a $20-25 player in deep auction formats. But last year, left fielders and third basemen had identical .735 OPS figures MLB-wide. I think Castellanos will be fine and they can upgrade elsewhere if they want to spend again. (Zachary Levine)

From Detroit, the obvious answer is Nick Castellanos, but you could also be intrigued by players like Endrys Briceno, Drew VerHagen, Brian McCann, and Steven Moya. From the White Sox you can look at Courtney Hawkins, despite what Mortimer says, and I still believe in Trayce Thompson a little bit. (Mark Anderson)

I know he's had some struggles at the plate as well over the last month or so, but the unicorns and rainbows surrounding the Matt Tuiasasopo/Andy Dirks experiment are going to fade away sooner rather than later, especially if (when) they lose Peralta from the lineup.

(Hector from Detroit)		I'm not sure there is a gap. I find Myers somewhat overrated to be honest. I see him as a Nick Swisher (which is very good and if he meets that ceiling, it's a tremendous success), but the perception seems to be far higher. (Paul Sporer)

(Chad from Florida)		The transition to left field has been slow for Castellanos. He has spurts where he looks like he has figured things out and then follows that up with stretches where he looks pretty brutal out there still. Ultimately, I think he ends up an average outfielder and I don't think the Tigers have any intention of moving him back to third base. As for Castro, his success in High-A has been a very nice surprise. The kid can flat out hit the baseball. I would temper your enthusiasm a bit, as I'm still not cnvinced he will spend the rest of the year there. If he starts to struggle, he could head to the NYPL to get on a more standard developmental track. He's got some interesting tools aside from his hitting ability, with some gap power, decent speed and some projection with the glove. The second base only profile that he currently holds is a tough one to fulfill from the complex leagues all the way to the Majors, but he's going to be fun to follow. (Mark Anderson)

(Jon from Detroit)		Castellanos is scuffling a bit at the higher levels, and his breakout at Lakeland is drifting further into the rearview mirror. The MLB roster is pretty loaded and the Tigers sit in a weak division, but Andy Dirks is not blocking anybody in LF. I say that Garcia gets there first, but that Castellanos wins the job once he is ready. A competitive team like Detroit has less incentive to play games with the arb clock, but in this case the promotion will be tied to performance. Castellanos has to earn his role. (Doug Thorburn)

His swing doesn't have a ton of loft to it, but as he continues to mature as a hitter, I'm certain he will add more over-the-fence power to his game. He's going to be a very good hitter.
