DateQuestionAnswer
2019-04-05 16:00:00 (link to chat)Would you deal Bregman for Vlad Jr. and Gerrit Cole in a dynasty? 16 team league where I would start maybe Tim Beckham until Vlad comes up. My team is very competitive this year, but my pitching is full of elderly aces.
(Alex from Austin)
I love Bregman, but getting Vlad makes this worth it. Vlad was #10 overall in Bret's top 500 dynasty players this year, just behind Bregman at #7. Add in a clear #1 fantasy SP, and I'd pull the trigger. (Kevin Jebens)
2015-04-30 13:00:00 (link to chat)Harry, Do you think something has clicked for Tim Beckham, and do you think he becomes the starting 2B at some point?
(Cal Guy from Cal)
talking about clicking ... maybe. He may also be a little lucky/hot. So, see answer above ;) (Harry Pavlidis)
2013-09-27 13:00:00 (link to chat)What is Tim Beckham's likely ML role?
(Paul from St.Pete)
I think he fits nicely as a solid utility player. The offensive profile isn't enough for me to view him as a regular at any position, but I think he has the defensive chops to handle shortstop, second base and third base. (Mark Anderson)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)On Addison Russell, I'm vary wary of athletic high school shortstops after watching what's become of Tim Beckham. What separates Russell for you?
(Short Shorts from By the water)
Every player is different so every player needs to be evaluated as an individual. Beckham is Beckham and Russell is Russell. At this point, Russell is new to professional baseball, and its imposible to say with any certainty that he is anything more than a very talented shortstop prospect that has a chance to develop into a very good major league player. I like the tools and the #want. The developmental road is long and dangerous. (Jason Parks)
2013-01-11 14:00:00 (link to chat)Jon Singleton: Is this a first time that a player has been suspended for pot? Is is this a reasonable action on the Organized Baseball's?
(Hoot Stromboli from city by a Great Lake)
Not the first time it's happened. Jeremy Jeffress was suspended not once but twice, Tim Beckham was suspended once, and there may be others. I think it's an excessive penalty, particularly given the double standards. For one, players on the 40-man roster aren't tested for drugs of abuse. For another, smoking pot is far less harmful to others than drunk driving, which carries no sanction within major or minor league baseball. (Jay Jaffe on the Hall of Fame)
2012-04-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Are there any decent shortstops in the high minors that might be promoted soon to the bigs?
(Matt from Malone, NY)
Does Tim Beckham qualify as decent? Most of the other guys playing in AA or above -- Profar, Machado, Lee, etc. -- are blocked to some degree. (Bradley Ankrom)
2012-04-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)How is Hak-Ju Lee more blocked than Tim Beckham? They are in the same organization.
(Chris from KC)
Lee is a level below Beckham in the org. (Bradley Ankrom)
2011-07-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Does Tim Beckham make it, and what kind of performance level might we expect in '12 or '13? Thanks.
(ramtax from Rockville, MD)
I think he makes it as a solid but unspectacular shortstop. (Kevin Goldstein)
2011-06-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Rays SS in 2014: Hak-Ju Lee or Tim Beckham?
(Imperialism32 from NJ)
I don't think Beckham profiles as a major league SS. I'll go with Lee (Jason Parks)
2011-04-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)More likely to make the majors: Donovan Tate or Tim Beckham?
(mef from Brooklyn)
Tate. More talent; better tools. (Jason Parks)
2011-04-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Tim Beckham's start for real or did he just start hot? I know you didn't want to jump to any conclusions in the ten pack, but do you think he's finally figuring out how to use his tools?
(mef from Brooklyn)
So if I didn't want to jump to any conclusions in this mornings piece, why would I want to this afternoon? (Kevin Goldstein)
