2014-05-15 20:00:00 (link to chat) | To me, Erasmo Ramirez and Taylor Jordan are in the same Schooner. They both have been given opportunities (Ramirez more than Jordan), but they both couldn't take advantage. Is there any hope left for these two gentlemen? (Karl from San Angelo) | In deep leagues, sure. I don't think we've seen the last of Jordan this season in Washington, but the Eraser may need a change of scenery at this point. (Bret Sayre) |
2014-04-24 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Hi Paul. Love the pitching guide. Are there any reasons that stand out for Taylor Jordan's slow start? Thanks. (mmcd from ottawa) | Thanks!!! The reason would be that he's a young guy learning the ropes. Nothing to freak out about, but additionally I think expectations were a bit high. (Paul Sporer) |
2014-03-19 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Still trying to figure out who the better speculative add is.. Taylor Jordan or Tanner Roark for the 5th spot in National's bullpen. Thanks. (Matt from Indianapolis) | For me it's Taylor Jordan all the way. He's a better pitcher and I think the Nationals should just let him run with it. (Bret Sayre) |
2014-03-19 20:00:00 (link to chat) | It pains me to have to ask, but can you please rank Eovaldi, Hutchison, Taylor Jordan and Martin Perez? (Ken from LA) | Assuming they all start the season in the rotation: Perez, Jordan, Eovaldi, Hutchison. (Bret Sayre) |
2013-12-17 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Any of these guys going to wind up more than back-end fodder?
Sean Nolin, Robbie Erlin, Jimmy Nelson, Alex Wood, Oberholtzer, Holmberg, Taylor Jordan, Maurer, Enny Romero, Alex Colome. (TheKernel from Pasadena) | Don't sleep on Enny Romero. I think there is a better chance of him providing impact in the bullpen, but I've been working on the Rays system lately and scouts really like this kid's stuff; I've seen it several times myself, so I can definitely appreciate a mid-90s FB and hard breaking ball from a southpaw. The command concerns, but if he can develop into an effectively wild type, he has the stuff to pitch above the middle-of-a-rotation. Projection is #2/3 type, but I think a late-innings arm is the realistic role. (Jason Parks) |
2013-08-12 14:00:00 (link to chat) | I love Rage Against the Ozzy. My favorite song by them is probably "Mama I'm On Parade". What do you think of Taylor Jordan? He's had his ups and his downs but seems to me like a credible 5th starter for next on a team that hopes to be a contender, even though he didn't make much prospect noise in the minors. (Charlie from Bethesda) | HA! Great call - I'm a fan of "Bomb Pigs". The jukebox switched songs on me while I was typing, and I ended up with a blend.
I like what Jordan brings to the table, especially that heavy sinker. His mechanics are good not great, lots of average grades on his mechanics report card, and I would prefer if there was more velo separation on his change-up and breaking ball. He is in a great organization when it comes to pitcher development, and I think that your 5th starter assessment is a good one. (Doug Thorburn) |
2013-07-19 13:00:00 (link to chat) | 20 team dynasty, h2h 7x7 (xbh, obp, hld, qs). My offense is filthy, and my pitching has a bright future, but is a bit under developed. Strasburg-Moore-Cain-Wheeler... then Taylor Jordan. I have Taillon, Gausman, and Martinez (StL) on my reserve/bench. I also possess the likely 1-1 prospect pick. I have two suitors for the pick.
I can hold the pick and grab Buxton next year, or deal it to a team with the 1-3 pick (he's one of the favorites to win the league title this year), or to a bottom 3 team with the 1-20 pick (these teams coincidentally own each others picks). Would you deal the rights to Buxton and maybe one of my high end 'spect arms for the 1-3 and a SP (His SP: Zimm, Grienke, Darvish, Weaver, Scherzer), or deal with the cellar dweller (owns Taveras, S. Miller, W. Myers, T. Walker). (AJ from Phoenix) | I generally prefer to invest in hitting, but if your hitting rakes then it seems you could use pitching NOW so I'd lean toward Darvish or Scherzer. (Paul Sporer) |
