2019-03-14 15:00:00 (link to chat)Does Nico Hoerner have chops, or is he just another over-hyped Cub prospect?
(Buddy from Peoria, IL)
I'm gonna go with yes he's over-hyped, he's still better than Daniel Descalso, and congratulate Theo on the third place finish. (Nathan Bishop)
2016-03-09 19:00:00 (link to chat)How much will Jose Reyes play this year? And if guys like Cargo, Blackmon, Hundley, LeMaheiu, McGee get dealt ..... Who gains value in Colorado? Not sure they have any other OF ready to step in this year. Dahl 2017.
(Bork from Lala land)
Impossible to guess what a Reyes suspension would look like. But I am thinking he plays 90-100 games and using that as a valuation baseline. If the Rockies clean house, the biggest gainers are Tom Murphy and people they acquired to back up like Ryan Raburn and Daniel Descalso. Trevor Story is the prospect who really jumps up. You're right, Dahl is likely 2017, so it's probably Raburn and Brandon Barnes for now. (Mike Gianella)
2013-10-28 18:00:00 (link to chat)Who is most likely to be the Cardinals' shortstop in 2014?
(whjohnson37 from Houston)
None of the above.

Seriously though the internal options aren't appealing. Pete Kozma and Daniel Descalso both seem like fill-ins or utility options as opposed to starters, and while some have suggested that Kolten Wong can't be any worse at the position, I think he'd be too big of a stretch at the position defensively to give him a try. My guess based on internal options is Kozma. It wouldn't surprise me to see the club explore a trade or someone like Yunel Escobar is the market is right. (Mike Gianella)
2010-10-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who do the Redbirds turn to for inexpensive middle-infield help? With the Pujols situation looming, I'm guessing they won't have lots of money to spend.
(Matt from Chicago)
I'm willing to invest a measure of faith in Daniel Descalso at second base, which allows them to skip the now obviously abortive Schumaker experiment at the keystone. Which really leaves them shopping for shortstops, and the market's pretty weak on that score if you consider Jeter's not really in play. It's probably J.J. Hardy or bust, which is OK--you're the Cardinals, and you exploit the advantages of playing in front of the game's best fans in a fine park, playing with some of the best players in baseball while having a legit shot at contention. Haggle, sign, enjoy. (Christina Kahrl)
