2020-12-11 12:00:00 (link to chat)Now that Nate Lowe has been traded away from the Rays, do you seen an increased role for him and what are your projections for him in he next year?
(Tyler from memphis, TN)
I'd assume he's getting the lion's share of 1B/DH at-bats. I've always seen him more as a solid regular than a star and the early returns on Texas's park is that it's absolutely brutal for hitters so 15 percent better than average there might not jump off the page in terms of slash line/counting stats. (Jeffrey Paternostro)

2020-12-11 12:00:00 (link to chat)How does the Nate Lowe acquisition affect the short & long-term future of Sherten Apostel?
(The Colonel from Pasadena, CA)
I don't think it makes a huge difference short term. He was going to need more time in the minors. I guess you hope he can be a part time 3B, but there is a DH slot too, so if he hits I expect finding playing time for Lowe and Apostel won't be a huge problem. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-09-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)In a dynasty league and starting to prepare for next year. If you have to keep one 1B moving forward, do you take Hosmer, Christian Walker or Nate Lowe? And do you think this little spurt by Lowe is a predictor of things to come or are they Rays going to bury him again next year?
(Tyler from memphis, TN)
Ugh. I'd love to think that the Rays would toss the keys to Lowe, but I also think it would have already happened by now if that was the plan. They just have too many guys that can get plugged in at 1B. If the rumors that they were shopping him at the deadline prove true, and that gets revisited, he's interesting for sure. But you can't really count on him getting moved as part of your plans. I'm going Hosmer. (Mark Barry)
2020-09-25 16:00:00 (link to chat)In a 14 team weekly h2h dynasty points league which of these players would you roster going into next season for a club well-positioned to win now and going forward - Nate Lowe, Hunter Dozier, Randy Arozarena and Jake Cronenworth are all currently on my roster. Available are Hampson, A Riley, McMahon, Jesus Aguilar, Jared Walsh, Brendan Rodgers, Willie Calhoun and Leody Taveras. I am also currently rostering Oneil Cruz and wondering if I should hold on a bit longer given his uncertain legal status. My current prospects include Vaughn Brujan Cruz and KRobInson. Prospects still available include Alek Thomas Brennen Davis Jordan Groshans and Corbin Carroll. Thanks for considering the question, Dylan
(dylanrox from Philly)
Some very enticing options there. For the MLBers, I really like Calhoun and Taveras--they'll be on a bad Texas team next year, but they should be centerpieces in that lineup. I would get in on Riley; the power upside is worthwhile even if the average will kind of suck. And I'd get in on Rodgers as well--we just haven't seen a healthy version of him for an extended run in the majors. Hampson and McMahon haven't really wowed, even with the Coors advantage, Walsh feels a bit flash-in-the-pan (but I'm prepared to be wrong there!), and Aguilar could be OK for a couple more years, but his skills should be easy enough to find. Of the prospects, I am heavy into Carroll, though I like all those names. I'd probably wait on Cruz's situation for a few weeks before cutting, but it isn't looking good right now. (Jon Hegglund)
2020-04-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)I traded Mookie Betts for Spencer Howard, CJ Abrams, and Nate Lowe. Did I dominate the trade?
(Cyle from Sioux Falls)
It depends on league size/scoring, but I would not trade Betts for that package in most formats. Sorry :( (Jesse Roche)
2019-10-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)The Rays are in a bit of a tough yet enviable situation of having too much current and future talent to hold it all on the 40-man. Who do you see taking a step forward and who do you see being traded?
(duhbear from VT)
I mean they have nice depth but I don't think they're in a significantly different situation than a few other clubs. There are some easy cuts on that roster (de Leon, Zunino) and some FA types (Sogard, Garcia). In terms of guys they might trade, it's probably their areas of depth: Relievers and 1B/DH types. Choi had a nice year and can easily be part of their future, but you've got Nate Lowe there, too. Depth is the name of the game though, so I'd expect it to be more of the fringe relief types who end up running out of options and the like. (Craig Goldstein)
2019-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Why is Nate Lowe not in the Rays lineup every day instead of AAA?
(Eddie from Tacoma)
Well, because they have Aguilar, Choi, and Garcia at 1B/DH. Would I rather have Lowe over one or more of those guys? I would, but he has options and they aren't struggling as it is. Plus they have McKay's flexibility to pinch hit and whatnot. (Craig Goldstein)
2019-07-31 12:00:00 (link to chat)Jesus Aguilar is now a Ray. Nate Lowe better no be going back down....
(Matt from Boston)
We'll see. It seems like a fair deal for both teams. A worthwhile gamble for Tampa to get a guy back o track who can impact their lineup for a guy in Faria who it seemed like they'd soured on. Milwaukee gets another multi-inning/outgetter type arm for their pen. (Craig Goldstein)
2019-07-31 12:00:00 (link to chat)Why do the Rays seem to hate a productive Nate Lowe?
(dzemens from Toledo)
I don't think they do. This is about improving the lineup and Aguilar can be a useful right-handed complement to Choi and Lowe, potentially. (Craig Goldstein)
