2019-03-08 16:00:00 (link to chat)Who do you think are the prospects that realistically can make the opening day roster if they have a good spring?
(Tommy from Chicago)
Garrett Hampson, Victor Robles (again), Jesus Luzardo, Justus Sheffield, and tons of Atlanta pitching prospects (Gohara, Allard, Wright) (Kevin Jebens)
2019-02-14 12:00:00 (link to chat)Hot take! Who has best offensive career? Ke'Bryan Hayes, Yusniel Diaz, Nick Madrigal, Nate Lowe, Garrett Hampson. Do any of them really stand out as definitively the best of this group or are they all close? And yes, this is an altered fantasy question. Thanks, Jeff.
(djdj from house)
Probably Madrigal who gives you Hayes' batting average with Hampson's steals, but Hayes could also have a power breakout and be a fantasy monster. I don't know that I'd BET on that, but I would not be surprised certainly. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-02-05 17:00:00 (link to chat)Who should I dream on....Garrett Hampson or Jose Peraza or Odor?
(Vic from Baltimore)
Peraza all day (Rob Arthur)
2019-02-18 16:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Kevin, with speed a rare commodity these days, who in the minor leagues not named Brujan and Wes Rogers can you see impacting the game on the basepaths in 2019 and beyond? Thanks for taking my question!
(feldman from Ft. Myers)
I mean, plenty of guys have 25+ SB upside. Madrigal is someone outside our top-20 prospects who could do it. Garrett Hampson this year has long-term upside of .300 and 30+ SB. Andres Gimenez isn't bad. Victor Victor Mesa. Jordyn Adams has 20/40 upside. (Kevin Jebens)
2018-12-10 16:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Darius. Sorry for addressing you as Brandon earlier. I had a brain freeze. Anyway, how high should I be on Garrett Hampson in a 12-team, NL-only, auction, keeper league (12 players kept per team). I have him at $8. What's his $ value floor? $ value ceiling?
(TC from Cincinnati)
No problem - I meant to joke about it and forgot! I think the speed gives him a pretty high floor - Amed Rosario was just a $20 player without stellar stats anywhere else. As long as the Rockies let him play (and I can't make any promises about the Rockies), I think the floor is the low teens and the ceiling is somewhere up around the mid-twenties. (Darius Austin)
2018-09-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)I was put onto Josh James from the Astros by Carson Cistulli and @hunt4prospects on Twitter, among others. First: do you think James is legit? Small sample obviously, but his seven innings have been pretty great. And second: do you have any prospects that you're really into and will vouch for that aren't on lists anywhere?
(Sam from Ontario)
I like what James as done so far, but Houston is another tough pitching staff to break into. I've been tossing around ideas for a piece on big hit tool guys that haven't necessarily hit for power in the minor leagues, and that's a profile I'm really into right now. Garrett Hampson, Adam Haseley, Vidal Brujan, Randy Arozarena are all guys I'm looking at. (Mark Barry)
2018-07-16 19:00:00 (link to chat)Could you share your thoughts on Garrett Hampson and a fantasy player?
(Chansen8895 from Hartford)
I like him, he's got a pretty good shot at the offseason 101 and wasn't entirely out of midseason 50 consideration. For fantasy purposes, pray he doesn't get traded out of the Rockies system. (Jarrett Seidler)
2018-06-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)what are your thoughts on Garrett Hampson this season and what his future role might look like?
(Chansen8895 from San Jose)
I think I described Hampson to a scout as a guy that's really a 45, but I have no choice but to 5 him. He just wins you over across multiple looks. He's a 70 runner, solid enough SS (thought he was better there than Rodgers), strong approach, pesky hitter. The main blemishes here are the swing has a fair bit of moving parts, and there just isn't much power projection. So he's probably a second division type guy/good infield bench piece. But man I will not be shocked if he's a solid starter for a few years. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-02-05 12:00:00 (link to chat)Which Rockies infield prospects have the best chance of making a top 100 someday? Garrett Hampson? Colton Welker? Ryan Vilade?
(Charlie from DC)
Welker and Vilade both have decent shots. Welker the edge because of what he's already done. Hampson is more of a grindy 45 type. He does have a pretty vocal advocate in the room in Wilson though. (Top 101 with Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-01-23 23:00:00 (link to chat)Is there any potential for Garrett Hampson to greatly improve his standing as a prospect? Realistically, I mean.
(Steve from Colorado)
I dunno what else Hampson can do, he raked all year last year and stole a million bases. He's been exactly this player since college, just keeps doing his thing. He'll be a quality major-league player, I been convinced of that for a while. (Wilson Karaman)
2017-09-18 23:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Wilson who are five of your favorite prospects that you personally just like?
(Adniel from nyc)
Edwin Rios, Tony Kemp, Garrett Hampson, Rogelio Armenteros, Jose Trevino. How's THAT for a collection? (Wilson Karaman)
2017-07-31 23:00:00 (link to chat)Do you see Garrett Hampson as more than a utility player at the Major League level?
(Steve from Colorado)
I do! Have dug him back to college, has always been a high-probability guy for me. I have a pretty fresh report on him here: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=446 (Wilson Karaman)
