DateQuestionAnswer
2017-03-09 20:00:00 (link to chat)I have a couple of questions about SSIM. 1. What assumptions does it make about CFs -- e.g., is a 2.16 OF treated as a +1.4 CF or a +6 generic OF, and how does that mean you should mentally tweak the SSIM number if you plan to use a CF in a corner? 2. How do you interpret it when comparing players with vastly different playing time? I would have assumed it would be much better to have Adeiny Hechavarria for the projected 547 PAs than Nick Ahmed for his projected 228 PAs if that means 300+ PAs of P-AAA. However, SSIM says it's about a wash (7.9 vs. 6.6). Is SSIM really saying the difference between the players is that small?
(edwardarthur from IL)
1. CF get a 1.4 multiplier boost; real life CFers are probably slightly less valuable to your Scoresheet team if you put them in a corner, but probably not by enough to drastically alter your rankings of them, draft positions for them, or deployment of them; 2) They'll both get compared to the woeful middle infielder AAA, so that's part of why their values are higher in general; TAv' will help you gauge their offensive output on a per PA basis; by that measure, Ahmed is probably ahead of Hechavarria by more than you might expect; overall, though, playing time of two players with similar output offensively and similar defense should be proportional to their SS/SIM; when you see inconsistencies like these, check the underlying components -- often there's a discrepancy in defense that you didn't expect. (Ben Murphy, Ian Lefkowitz and Jared Weiss)
2013-06-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Does Adeiny Hechavarria offer any value ROS.
(RLewis from Still home)
Depends on league, but not really. (Paul Sporer)
2013-02-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Any of these hitters worth a flyer in an NL only standard 4x4 league? DJ LeMahieu, Adeiny Hechavarria, or Jordany Valdespin.
(Johnny T from The Hills)
All three are worth fliers, we're talking NL-only. Valdespin probably has the highest ceiling if he can get playing time because of the HR/SB combo. Hechavarria should play, but yawn on the stats. (Mike Gianella)
2013-02-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)Battle of 2nd Division shortstop prospects with really cool, but slightly effeminate names. Who has the better career, Didi Gregorius or Adeiny Hechavarria ?
(Paul from DC)
No idea, but I can tell you that Gregorius anagrams to Rigid Rod Guise and Adeiny Hechavarria is too long for the internet anagram server to handle. (Matthew Kory)
2013-01-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat, R.J. Please rank the following infielders by 2013 fantasy upside: Josh Rutledge, Logan Forsythe, Jed Lowrie, Everth Cabrera, Chris Nelson, Adeiny Hechavarria, and Donovan Solano.
(Todd from Oakland)
Hey Todd,

I'm not too good at fantasy (as Marc Normandin can attest) but I'd rank 'em something like:

Lowrie - Hurt often but probably the best hitter of the bunch
Cabrera - Should swipe a ton of bags and he has the positional advantage over Forsythe
Rutledge - Not as good as last year but he can hit and that park will help
Forsythe - Park hurts
Nelson - Park should help
Solano - I think I undersold him last year, but I don't know that I can put him higher
Hechavarria - Not sold that he's a fantasy contributor (R.J. Anderson)
2012-12-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Adeiny Hechavarria? Is he the starting SS for Miami on opening day? Do you think he is a sleeper candidate for fantasy teams? What kind of line can we expect from him? Thanks for the chat!
(Jeff from Miami)
Yes, no, .264/.289/.359 (Sam Miller)
2012-11-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Early predictions: Who are your favorites for NL and AL rookie of the year for next year?
(Cole from St. Louis)
Tough one, Cole. Wish I had more time to ponder that great question. My gut says that Trevor Bauer and Adeiny Hechavarria will impact their big league clubs next year, but I don't have everyone's names in front of me right now. I should have brought Jason Martinez' great MLB Depth Charts with me today but forgot them. Sorry. (Dan Evans)
