2017-06-13 12:00:00 (link to chat)Shallow 10 team H2H categories league w/ OPS, keeper league with set amt of keepers each year but can keep guys forever. Rank these currently struggling bats in terms of dynasty value: Rougned Odor, Byron Buxton, Rougned Odor, Jonathan Villar, Alex Bregman.. Thanks!!
(Ben from The Ham)
Bregman, Buxton, Villar, Odor (Craig Goldstein)
2016-08-11 14:00:00 (link to chat)Billy Hamilton has a .374 OBP and 26 SB in the 24 games since the all star break. Small sample, sure, but that's a 175 SB pace for a full season, and I love dreaming that he can top Rickey's 130 SB season. Two questions: what do you project for him in 2017, and is he the most fun player to watch in MLB when he's playing this well?
(Truganini from CO)
Man, I'm not a fan of Billy Hamilton at all, so this is tough for me. I don't think he's an everyday player by the All-Star Break in 2017, if not sooner. However, when he is playing this well, he's dynamite. Even on his top-end, though, I'm not convinced he's too much different than Dee Gordon or Jonathan Villar these days. (J.P. Breen)
2016-08-11 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think Jonathan Villar will keep up with this same production next season?
(Brett from OR)
I think he takes a step backward -- just because I'm nervous to project a dude to have an OBP near .390 again -- but he's been brilliant. His whiff rate has declined. He's swinging at pitches outside the zone far less often. He's also pulling the ball less often than he has in the past. I like him and think he's an everyday starter for the Brewers going forward, even if he takes a step backward. (J.P. Breen)
2014-04-16 19:00:00 (link to chat)Have a couple AL only guys to try and buy low on at this point?
(russellj90 from Iowa)
How about Trevor Bauer, Jonathan Villar and Craig Gentry? Not Mike Moustakas, unfortunately. Stay away. (Ben Carsley)
2013-08-08 17:30:00 (link to chat)Mike- what are your thoughts on Villar ROS? Looking for steals and thinking about picking him up off waivers. Unfortunately I didn't this past weekend and I've watched him swipe 3 bases in 2 games thus far.
(DanDaMan from SeaCliff)
Hey Dan, thanks for joining the chat.

I like Jonathan Villar's steal potential, although in a mixed league I'd be a little wary. The BABIP is super high and the high K rate makes me think that pitchers are going to start throwing him more junk and that the BB rate is going to drop until he adjusts. Villar offers nothing but speed. In a deeper mixed or only you throw caution to the wind. In mixed, if the average drops any further - or if the BB disappear in an OBP league, he's suddenly a liability, even with the bags. (Mike Gianella)
2013-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Better offense: Rougned Odor or Jonathan Villar?
(RotoLando from Cloud City)
Odor (Jason Parks on the Midseason Top 50 Prospects)
2013-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will Jonathan Villar develop into a decent enough offensive MI at the MLB level?
(captnamerca from Clown College, Bro.)
Love your location. He has the talent to be an above-average regular at second base with some potential with the bat, speed, and good defensive tools. Call it a gut feeling, but I say he doesn't develop into an everyday guy. (Jason Cole)
2012-08-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)Astros pushed Nolan Fontana fast and he's doing well in A-ball Lexington already. ETA to the Majors for him? Is he or Jonathan Villar the shortstop of the future at this point?
(Ashitaka1110 from Houston, TX)
For the next question, Ashitaka1110, I have seen both players, but not recently. Fontana has great bloodlines, as his grandfather is former Milwaukee Brave RHP Lew Burdette, which might help him get there a little sooner. Villar was a good get in the Pence deal, and the Astros will have a couple of talented kids to evaluate. (Dan Evans)
