2011-09-02 14:00:00 (link to chat) | What can you tell me about the recent performance surge from Jay Jackson? (Matt from Chicago) | He's been better, but I'm not sure it's a 'surge'. I think think he has a shot at a relief role down the road. (Kevin Goldstein) |
2011-06-27 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Kevin! As a Cubs fan I'm used to disappointment...I may even thrive on it. What's happened to Jay Jackson in Iowa? Hopes for a decent #3 starter seem to be fading. Thanks! (abbiet from pit of despair...but at least it's familiar) | He's regressed, no doubt. He's one of those guys I think might be able to turn it around with a bullpen move. (Kevin Goldstein) |
2011-02-22 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Who of Trey McNutt, Chris Carpenter, and Jay Jackson has the highest ceiling (and what is that ceiling)? Most likely to reach their ceiling? (Michael from Chicago) | McNutt has the highest ceiling and the best name of the group. He could be a #2 or a very good power reliever. I think Carpenter will reach a ceiling of power bullpen arm. (Jason Parks) |
2011-02-22 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Have you soured on Jay Jackson? KLaw had his velocity down late last season to the upper-80s. (Matt from Chicago) | I was never that high on him to begin with. He wasn't sharp last season, but he has the arsenal to find some success at the major league level. I'd say he's more of a reliever or back-end starter. (Jason Parks) |
2010-06-02 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What kind of ceiling does Jay Jackson of the cubs have? Will we have to wait till next year to see him? (Stephen from Denton, Tx) | I think the ceiling is medium-high, but I can't say I've seen him pitch. I do know he was a philosophy major in college, which I endorse. I'd like to see the strikeouts be a little higher, but his control has been nifty at Triple-A this year, which is basically the opposite of his performance in the upper levels last season. I think the transition to the bullpen is working very nicely, and may accelerate his timetable. (Tommy Bennett) |
2010-05-25 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Are the Cubs better off making a deal for a pen arm or promoting from within( Andrew Cashner or Jay Jackson)? (Matt from Chicago) | I would have already had Cashner in the majors. I know he's starting in the minors but he was a dominant reliever in college. I can't believe he is still in the minors. (John Perrotto) |
