2013-08-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)The first manager to get fired in season will be...
(Ted from Chicago)
You know, I'm not sure if we will have anyone fired in-season. There are arguments for various managers but guys like Ned Yost and Eric Wedge have had some success as of late. I don't think Bud Black is going anywhere. Maybe Ron Roenicke if Milwaukee opts to clean house. Otherwise there aren't many obvious candidates for me. (R.J. Anderson Trade Deadline Wrap Chat)
2012-04-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Can the Brewers approach last year's 96 wins with three upgrades defensively on the infield and a stable bullpen? Health of the starting rotation has to be the biggest factor, doesn't it? They were incredibly healthy last season.
(Matt from Eau Claire, WI)
Absolutely. They were middle of the pack defensively last year, though much improved over the year before - Ron Roenicke's willingness to shift (the Brewers did so more often than any other team) appears to have been a factor, and losing Yuniesky Betancourt shouldn't hurt.

The Brewers have one of the league's strongest rotations 1-5, but they don't have much organizational depth beyond that, so yes, it's important they stay healthy. If they do, I suspect they can contend again in the NL Central. (Jay Jaffe)
2011-05-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)Break down Ron Roenicke as a manager for me. Strengths, weaknesses. Do you still like him?
(The Common Man from Getting Closer)
The Brewers have been playing way too poorly recently to give him a fair shake. He has issues with the lineup (in batting order and defensive position). For some reason, he's in love with Mark Kotsay, even going to so far as to start him in CF yesterday over Brandon Boggs. A lot of Brewers fans hate Roenicke's tendency to go for extra bases, but I'm not jumping on that yet. Doing the Tracker, I've gotten used to subconsciously timing players as they move around the field... if done right, extra bases are definitely there for the taking. Players need to be wiser about it, though.

He hasn't gotten off to a great start yet, that's for sure. (Larry Granillo)
2010-11-09 14:00:00 (link to chat)Ron Roenicke....Please tell me this works even if he can't pick his pitching and hitting coaches!
(BStephen from Bucky Land)
Really like that hire. Liked Joey Cora better, but nothing wrong with Roenicke. (Kevin Goldstein)
2010-11-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Ron Roenicke as Brewers manager -- thoughts?
(WIBL from WIBLDom)
This is another example of a team where the manager means very, very, very little relative to the names he will actually pencil into the lineup card. (Eric Seidman)
