2021-07-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)Does Corbin Carroll's injury impact Alek Thomas' opportunity to be CF in Arizona? Has Thomas' development been on track in 2021 so far?
(ironcityguys from daBurgh)
Maybe in the short term. I think Carroll is the better center fielder once he's ready, but the shoulder injury does push the timeline back and Thomas has been hitting in Double-A. As far as his 2021, Thomas has really done everything I wanted to see in Double-A save maybe get the strikeout rate down a bit more. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-12-18 12:00:00 (link to chat)It would seem the roster conditions in AZ are ripe for Alek Thomas to make an impact in 2021. What are your thoughts on this and how you see his overall game developing? Thanks for your insight.
(CubbieBear from Chi-Town)
So one thing (among many) that is difficult for me to project is how teams view the reps prospects got in 2020. If you view Thomas's alternate site work as a decent proxy for what would have been an A+/AA season under normal circumstances, than yeah, he might be ready for major league reps fairly soon. This is going to be extremely individualized based on the player though. 2021 league assignments will be very telling. Overall though, the reports from the AS were good, and he's on pace to be a well-rounded center fielder even if the offensive upside is merely above-average. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-08-14 14:00:00 (link to chat)With steals becoming more and more extinct, who are some prospects to target that won’t kill me in all the other categories?
(Larry from Montana )
CJ Abrams, Vidal Brujan, Alek Thomas, Corbin Carroll, Jordyn Adams, Greg Jones (Jesse Roche)
2020-05-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)The dbacks outfield depth looks loaded with Robinson ,Thomas, carroll, and espinal. Wondering how you se that shaking out for 2022-2023 . Would one go to dh or1b
(Bob brenly from Athens)
The Diamondbacks not only have a wealth of outfielders, but the entire system is stacked. Kristian Robinson, Alek Thomas, Corbin Carroll, Wildred Patino, Jeferson Espinal, and Dominic Fletcher are an excellent group of outfielders. Not all prospects succeed, however, and several will surely regress and/or fail to reach FV expectations. I doubt any switch positions, either. Best case scenario is the entire group excels, then the Diamondbacks can always look to move excess for other pieces (like the Cardinals have done recently to questionable effect). (Jesse Roche)
2019-10-04 14:15:00 (link to chat)With Alex Thomas kristian Robinson Corbin Carroll and jeferson the dbacks future outfield looks crowded . How do you see it shaking out?
(Cactus jack from Phoenix)
Maaaan this is very much a 2022 problem I think. Robinson has the most upside here, but I love me some Alek Thomas. The swing is very aesthetically pleasing. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-09-13 12:00:00 (link to chat)Look into a crystal ball: Who is ranked higher going into the 2021 season? Corbin Carroll, Alek Thomas, Brennen Davis or Jeremiah Jackson?
(Nicole from OR)
Thomas, but it's a fairly low confidence interval. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-07-22 15:00:00 (link to chat)Alek Thomas: hitting machine or more of a hitting alien, sent from another planet to destroy baseballs?
(Leon from Los Angeles)
All I can think of now is Mark McGwire distracting everyone from MLB's data-gathering on that Simpsons episode by hitting a huge dinger. (Darius Austin)
2019-07-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think of Corbin Carroll and Alek Thomas? They're very similar, so could you compare and contrast them? Thank you!
(CuccumberParty from Phoenix)
Maybe I'm crazy but aside from being in Arizona and being short...I'm not sure I see them as super similar. Thomas has a ton of feel for the game and is an absolute physical specimen (his father is the White Sox Director of Conditioning). Carroll is a pure hitter. I like both a lot (and generally really liked Arizona's draft last year and this year). (Craig Goldstein)
2019-07-09 12:00:00 (link to chat)Alek Thomas is a hitting machine. Yes or hell yes?
(Joseph from Baltimore)
Love the frame, love the swing. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-07-01 12:00:00 (link to chat)so how about this Alek Thomas guy? Folks???
(treemeister from NC)
I expect he will be on our risers list as part of the Midseason 50 supplemental content next week. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-06-05 21:00:00 (link to chat)Alek Thomas: Top __ fantasy prospect.
(MJ from St Paul)
40. He's been extremely impressive so far in 2019, but I loved him coming out of the draft as well. (Mr. President Bret Sayre)
2019-06-07 12:00:00 (link to chat)Only have a spot for one in a dynasty. Contention window 2-3 years out. George Valera, Alek Thomas, Dylan Carlson, Jazz Chisholm, Keibert Ruiz, Daulton Varsho, Nolan Jones, Trevor Larnach, Xavier Edwards, Shane Baz, Michel Baez, Or Seth Beer. Also, I wish I had 10 more roster spots
(KJ from Providence)
I'd probably go with Carlson or Larnach. Keibert is the best pure prospect here, but also might not be a huge fantasy factor. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-06-07 12:00:00 (link to chat)How much has Alek Thomas increased his status this season? Is his apparent lack of hard contact concerning?
(Alex from Austin)
He's another Midseason 50 long list guy, and the underlying power numbers aren't bad at all for a 19 year old in the Midwest League. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-05-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Please give me 5 A-Ball prospects to target in my dynasty league, not named Wander.
(Yankee from Charlotte )
Shervyen Newton, Geraldo Perdomo, D'Shawn Knowles, Alek Thomas, Antoni Flores (I went with A-Ball or lower, hope that's alright) (Craig Goldstein)
2019-05-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is it still a bit early to jump in on Alex Thomas in dynasty leagues? I’m startling to get concerned about both the Luis Garcia’s on my minors.
(Chansen8895 from San jose)
Alek Thomas? I've been pushing him since last June, so no. Re: the Garcias - it's two months and these are babies. One of them is 19 and in Double-A. Try to be less reactionary. (Craig Goldstein)
