DateQuestionAnswer
2021-02-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)In a 16-tm OBP league, I am currently running Danny Jansen out as my catcher. Am I doomed?
(Ryan from Montreal)
I wouldn't say you're doomed. Jansen actually walked a bunch last year, he just didn't hit. Like, at all. (Mark Barry)
2020-12-04 12:00:00 (link to chat)Did Danny Jansen play himself out of a starting role going forward?
(Ryan from Montreal)
DRC liked his 2020 more than the triple slash, which might just be small sample size variance, and he's a good enough defender now I think you can give him another run, but if you are making noise about being active in free agency like they are it's a place you should look to upgrade. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-10-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Danny Jansen a weak-side platoon guy now? Is it reasonable to still hope for more?
(Charley from Toronto)
I think it's too early to close the book on Jansen the starter. He has the ability to be more, but the Toronto catching situation will be interesting to monitor as the corpse of Reese McGuire showed itself to be quite animated at the plate, and quite deft behind it (as he always was). (Craig Goldstein)
2019-02-25 16:00:00 (link to chat)Danny Jansen looks like a lock to start in Toronto. What are realistic expectations for his stat line in 2019?
(CubbieBear from Chi-Town)
Yup, he's pretty much a lock. Conventional wisdom (and ADP) has a clear top-8 at the position, but I'm not so sure that Jansen doesn't outperform a Willson Contreras or Yadier Molina by season's end. PECOTA has .235/14/49/48/2 in 412 PA. I'll push the average up to .250, and the RBI up by 5-10, but otherwise this looks right to me. (Jon Hegglund)
2018-12-10 16:00:00 (link to chat)What catchers are you targeting this season?
(Gary Mack from behind the plate)
I like Posey's price point where he has been going so far, although it's still early. Danny Jansen is exciting. I have a soft spot for Willians Astudillo, of course, so I hope the Twins let him play all year. (Darius Austin)
2018-12-06 20:00:00 (link to chat)Danny Jansen: 80 OFP or the first ever 90?
(Chris B from Canada)
If only we gave a three grade bump for great glasses. (Jarrett Seidler)
2018-06-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Danny Jansen should be getting more hype, right? 23 year old C who has mashed for 1.5 years now since getting eyewear to fix his vision. Should he be called up soon?
(brendonkuhn from Vancouver)
Catchers are weird. But yes. They are amazing specs too. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-05-25 12:15:00 (link to chat)I know the Morales vs Vlad debate is very in right now, but how about Danny Jansen vs Russell Martin? Do you think there's any way the Jays start playing Jansen close to everyday before the end of Russ's deal?
(Jack from Los Angeles)
Yep. I think they're going to have to, because I'm skeptical Martin remains on the team if he's not willing to take a hit to his playing time heading into next year. There's no reason to make this a Yadi/Carson Kelly sitch (especially since Yadi can still hit) (Craig Goldstein)
2018-04-05 20:00:00 (link to chat)Danny Jansen or Jake Rogers as AL catching prospects - either worth drafting?
(fearlessraccoon from Chicago)
I like Jansen. Still think there's an outside chance he's starting for the Jays by September. (Mike Gianella)
2015-01-15 18:00:00 (link to chat)Which under-the-radar Blue Jays prospect do you think will have a coming out party in 2015? Rowdy Tellez, Angel Perdomo, Dan Jansen, or Lane Thomas?
(Jay from Toronto)
Oh, one of my secret crushes, Angel Perdomo. I fully expect to see people talking about him extensively by this time next year. (Mark Anderson)
