2014-06-24 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Does Jesse Biddle ever figure out the control issues? It looked like early in the year he was fine, and now he seems to look just like last year. Can he ever be a good MLB pitcher with his control? (Derek from PA) | I've always been lower than most on Biddle. The stuff is relatively average, and I'm not a big fan of drop and drive guys in general. Biddle doesn't really have anything that misses major league bats. It's more of a "sum of its parts" type profile, and without a step forward in command, he's a back end starter at best, or even a swing man reliever. (Jordan Gorosh) |
2014-05-05 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Are Jesse Biddle's control problems behind him? He was doing so well with not walking more than 2 in a game, and his most recent starts he walked 5 and 3. What do you make of him? (Frank from Philly) | I don't think they're completely behind him. He's still maddeningly inconsistent, and that may be something we see from him for a long time. He'd hardly be the first pitcher to look great one day and a mess the other, then the aggregate comes out to be a useful piece. That may just be what Biddle is. Still plenty of time to find out. (Jeff Moore) |
2014-04-21 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Jesse Biddle has looked pretty good this year. I think the control issues have passed from last year. What are your thoughts on Biddle? (Scott from PA) | Yes, so far the control has been much better. It's way too early to say they're passed. Four starts in a row walking two batters or less is something he failed to do last year, so it's a good sign, but it's still just four starts. (Jeff Moore) |
2013-11-25 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Tyler Glasnow or Jesse Biddle? Is it close? (Nick from My Couch) | Glasnow. Nope. (Jason Parks) |
2013-11-14 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Will Jesse Biddle break into the phils rotation sometime next year? Is he a #2/3 type arm long term? (higgsboson from Guelph) | He could get a few starts here and there in 2014, but I'm not sure he's quite ready to take on a big Major League role. I think the bulk of the year spent refining his game would be very beneficial in minimizing his MLB learning curve. Long term, he's more of a #3/4 type for me. (Mark Anderson) |
2013-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Does Jesse Biddle still have #2 upside with the velocity uptick or is it more of a #3 workhorse profile? (MattWinks from Cedar Rapids) | #3 is a safer bet (Jason Parks on the Midseason Top 50 Prospects) |
2013-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Who seems to have the highest ceiling of Kyle Gibson, Jesse Biddle, J.R. Graham? (Shawnykid23 from CT) | Weird question because I think Graham has the highest ceiling of that group just barely, though he also has the highest chance to end up in the bullpen. Biddle is second of that group for me, with Gibson third. (Jason Cole) |
2013-05-07 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Is anthony ranuado for real? Is he better that Jesse Biddle long term? (PB from OHIO) | Realish in that he's super-talented, but let's see more. I'd still bet on Biddle just bc AR is still a bit behind the curve. (Paul Sporer) |
2013-05-07 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Paul, whats your crystal ball show you on Jesse Biddle? how quickly will he be up? how quickly will he be affective? What is his ceiling and floor? Thanks again. (FCF from CLEVELAND) | That'd be a tough one even for the prospect guys especially since it's almost impossible to know questions 2 and 3 re: when & how good. I'd take a look at his prospect profile from this spring http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=19360 (Paul Sporer) |
2013-04-30 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Jesse Biddle has had some tremendous outings this year. Is he a top tier arm, or does he seem to just know how to pitch against lesser competition, and thus nothing to be too excited about? (The Dude from Work) | He's not a future ace or anything, no. He could be a middle-of-the-rotation starter though, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. (R.J. Anderson) |
2013-04-18 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Any chance that Jesse Biddle or Adam Morgan get called up this year for the Phillies? (mrollo1 from Haddonfield, NJ) | I think both would benefit from another full year in the minors, but if one is going to debut this year, my money would definitely be on Morgan. (Daniel Rathman) |
2012-12-18 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Paul, BA recently came out with their top 10 prospects for the Phillies and have Jesse Biddle at no. 1. What are your thoughts on him? What is his ceiling? No. 2? Thanks! (Jake from Philly) | Probably closer to a 3 which is still quite good, but it isn't out of the realm to see a 2 develop, either. (Paul Sporer) |
