- Dodgers SP Ricky Nolasco was rocked for six runs over five innings but managed to take a no-decision.
- Dodgers RP Kenley Jansen nailed down his 26th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
- Diamondbacks SP Wade Miley was charged with three runs on five hits and four walks over just five frames.
- Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez went 4-for-5 with a pair of homers and four RBI.

- 1 at 10 - Pirates (88-65)
- Pirates SP Gerrit Cole tossed six innings of one-run ball and struck out a career-high 12 batters.
- Padres SP Ian Kennedy was knocked around for six runs over 3 2/3 innings.
- Pirates 2B Neil Walker finished 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.
- Padres 1B Tommy Medica delivered an RBI single.

- Rockies SP Roy Oswalt was charged with four runs over just 4 2/3 frames but escaped with a no-decision.
- Cardinals SP Michael Wacha was touched up for four runs on 12 hits over just 4 2/3 frames.
- Cardinals RP Edward Mujica blew his fourth save of the season.
- Rockies OF Corey Dickerson went 3-for-7 with a walk-off RBI double in the 15th inning.
- Cardinals OF Matt Holliday went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and three walks.

American League:
(65-87) Twins - 6 at 8 - Athletics (90-63)
- Athletics OF Coco Crisp launched a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning.
- Twins OF Oswaldo Arcia went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored.
- Athletics SP Dan Straily allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision.
- Twins SP Kevin Correia yielded two runs over five innings in a no-decision.
(67-86) Mariners - 4 at 5 - Tigers (89-64)
- Tigers DH Victor Martinez went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two walks.
- Tigers SP Doug Fister allowed four runs over 7 2/3 innings and struck out 10 batters.
- Mariners SP James Paxton allowed three runs over five innings in a no-decision.
- Mariners OF Dustin Ackley launched a three-run home run.
- Rangers SS Elvis Andrus had a solo homer and a two-run single.
- Rangers SP Yu Darvish survived six walks and a HBP to allow two runs in five innings.
- Rays SP Matt Moore lost just the fourth time this season after allowing six runs -- five earned -- in four innings.
- Rangers OF Craig Gentry had four hits and three steals.

- 1 at 2 - Indians (83-70) (11 innings)
- Indians OF Matt Carson singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th.
- Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez whiffed nine while allowing one run in seven innings.
- Astros SP Dallas Keuchel pitched seven innings and allowed just one run.
- Indians 1B Nick Swisher went 4-for-4 before being removed for a pinch-runner.
- Astros 1B Brett Wallace struck out all four times.
(80-73) Yankees - 2 at 6 - Blue Jays (70-82)
- Blue Jays SP Todd Redmond pitched seven innings of one-run ball and struck out seven.
- Blue Jays OF Anthony Gose went 3-for-4 with his second homer, a double and an outfield assist.
- Yankees 1B Lyle Overbay went 0-for-4 on Thursday and is hitting .179 in 39 at-bats during September.
(81-71) Orioles - 1 at 3 - Red Sox (93-61)
- Red Sox SP John Lackey pitched a two-hitter in his 16th career complete game.
- Red Sox SS Stephen Drew had a two-run homer and a triple.
Player Transactions:
National League:
- Nationals acquired LHP Matt Spann as the player to be named later in the David DeJesus trade.
- Mets recalled INF Wilfredo Tovar from Double-A Binghamton.
- Brewers claimed RHP Josh Ravin off waivers from the Reds.
- Brewers designated C/INF Blake Lalli for assignment.
Injury Updates:
National League:
- Mets SS Ruben Tejada is not expected to require a surgical procedure for his broken right fibula.
- 3B David Wright (hamstring) is expected to return to the Mets' starting lineup on Friday night.
- 1B Allen Craig (foot) is not expected to rejoin the Cardinals during their current road trip.
- Cubs C Welington Castillo (knee) will be examined Friday.
- Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (forearm) threw off flat ground Thursday and is on track to start Saturday against the Marlins.
American League:
- X-rays taken Thursday afternoon on Tigers SS Jose Iglesias' left hand showed no fractures of any kind.
- Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (oblique) is on track to return to the Mariners' rotation Sunday against the Angels.
- Tigers RP Phil Coke will be shut down for the next couple of days due to left elbow tenderness.
- Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion underwent successful surgery on his left wrist on Thursday.
- Indians SP Justin Masterson (oblique) feels good and is ready to throw off a mound Friday.
- Red Sox manager John Farrell acknowledged Thursday that OF Jacoby Ellsbury (foot) is unlikely to return until the final series of the regular series next weekend.
- Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (groin) said he felt good after a bullpen session Saturday.
- Yankees C Austin Romine (concussion) is still not ready to return.
- Astros C Jason Castro underwent a minor surgical procedure Thursday to remove a cyst from his right knee.
- Astros 3B Matt Dominguez left Thursday's game against the Indians after being hit on the left hand by a pitch.
- Rays RP Jesse Crain (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list Friday.
- Athletics C John Jaso (concussion) will play some games in the instructional league early next week.
Notes & Rumors:
National League:
- Pedro Strop will serve as the Cubs' closer for the remainder of the 2013 regular season.
- SP Francisco Liriano is expected to start the first game of the postseason for the Pirates.
American League:
- SP Matt Shoemaker will make a spot start for the Angels on Friday night against the Mariners.
- Angels SP Jered Weaver has been scratched from his scheduled start Friday night against the Mariners.
- Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz will start Saturday against the Blue Jays.
