Extra large frame with an athletic build, long legs, some mild projection for growth remains; Utilizes a semi-windup, above average arm speed with a 3/4 slot, mild effort in the delivery. |

Heavy pitch that has some natural arm-side run, gets good downhill plane; Likes to work high in the zone, can elicit swing and miss; Velocity would tick up in a bullpen role. |

Currently inconsistent but has potential to become an average offering with some swing and miss potential; Has late break and will sweep strike-to-ball, |

Only mixed in a couple during my look, lacks velocity separation and consistent movement, mild fade on the few he threw well. |
Drafted 61st overall in 2020, Nicolas has a durable, athletic frame and has worked hard to clean up the delivery since his time at Ball State. Miami will give him every opportunity to stick in a starting role and if the change develops he could see time as a back of the rotation type. The more likely outcome is he leans heavily on the fastball/slider combo and becomes a late inning, mid-leverage reliever.
