Sterling Sharp

Born: 05/30/1995 (Age: 24)
Bats: Right Throws: Right
Height: 6' 3" Weight: 182
Mechanics
Extra-large frame with an extremely wiry, lean body. Cold-weather kid, but might always be on the lean side given age and development time in pro ball. Pitches from a semi-wind-up, high front arm, long arm action with average arm speed to a 3/4 slot. Long levers, but he repeats delivery and slot.

Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
Fastball 45 88-89 90 Well-below-average velocity, but plus sinking action that hitters just beat into the ground. Fills up the bottom of the zone with strikes, high roundball rate, nearly 60%. Hitters can't elevate it and he controls the bottom of the zone, plays as a fringe-average offering.
Slider 45 80-81 82 Sweepy action, average depth, not sharp but kept down in the zone, can get some swings-and-misses, but isn't a consistent out pitch, lacks bite or velocity behind it, fringe-average offering.
Changeup 50 77-78 79 Good velocity separation from fastball, thrown with same arm speed, deceptive out of hand. Can be a swing-and-miss offering but more often than not gets weak contact, average offering.
Overall

See as a back-of-the-rotation starting pitcher, 24 y/o RHP, old-school groundbal pitcher in the role of Aaron Cook. Fastball has well-below-average velocity, but is a quality sinker that he fills up the bottom of the zone with. Average changeup is go to pitch with fringe slider. Moderate interest.
