Extra-Large frame with a thick lower half and projection remaining in the upper body, bigger than listed height and weight; Semi-windup, with 3/4 arm slot, stays online well with a clean landing, easy delivery. |

Fastball has become a weapon for Marquez this year, he's cleaned up the delivery and become more consistent with the arm slot using his height to get good plane; The pitch is straight but has life and explodes on hitters; Velocity dipped after 4 innings. |

Recently added to his mix of pitches, currently lacks feel and consistency, pitch lacks movement but has good velocity separation and Marquez replicates his arm action well. |

Primary off speed offering, still has some inconsistency and will get loose, in my most recent looks he missed armside early but gained feel deeper into the game, will bury on the back boot of right handed hitters; 2/8 movement, has swing and miss potential. |
Marquez has always had the physical tools, an extra large frame to go along with a strong arm, but it did not always translate to in game performance. It's beginning to click this year as he's cleaned up the delivery and is more under control allowing the fastball to be his centerpiece pitch. The secondaries are still lacking feel but they have the look of at least major league average offerings. The Cubs will keep him in a starting role as long as possible but will eventually be a late inning closer type.
