Leo Crawford

Born: 02/02/1997 (Age: 22)
Bats: Left Throws: Left
Height: 6' 0" Weight: 180
Mechanics
Huge leg kick that gets his toe to head level. Loves to mix up his delivery and timing, sometimes with a double or triple windup. Will even tap his front and back feet up and down several times before the leg kick. Although the pre-delivery motion is never the same, the arm action is usually consistent at three-quarter. He will occasionally short arm the ball behind his ear, especially on changeups. There is definitely an inverted-W arm load and a touch of effort in the motion. He doesn't use his legs enough to create momentum, evidence by the lack of follow through.

Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
Fastball 45 86-89 91 Mostly 88 and 89, topping 90 and 91 a small handful of times. Some sinking action. Can be a great groundball pitch when located down.
Changeup 60 77-79 79 Does a good job of commanding the pitch, especially to the arm side of the plate. Pitch features both excellent fading and running action, generating some swing and misses
Overall

Crawford only has one potentially major league worthy pitch, his changeup. With his fastball 6 to 10 MPH slower than it needs to be, and an almost complete lack of a breaking ball, Crawford is destined for the bullpen. The quality of the changeup prevents me from listing him as an organizational arm. He throws enough strikes for there to be a tight, but still existent path for him to the bigs as a matchup reliever.
