Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
Fastball 55 91-92 94 Fastball tops out at 94, sits a few notches lower; throws a straight four-seamer primarily, although he'll cut it once in a while; 90-91 when he cuts it; loose in the zone with the fastball, prone to missing in the middle of the plate; below average command, can lose feel for the strike zone.
Slider 50 83-84 86 Pitch features horizontal movement, though it shows more depth when thrown at the knees or lower; has tendency to leave the pitch up in the zone where it flattens out; early break; will get whiffs against righties when thrown low and away.
Changeup 30 84 85 Show me pitch; limited fade, some depth; movement is early; not a chase pitch; limited feel for the change.

At his best, Bawcom combines an above average fastball with a slider that plays average and flashes a little better when he's burying it out of the zone. For the most part though, he struggles to induce whiffs and ends up in a lot of deep counts. Should the need arise, he has the composure to survive in the big leagues, although he won't miss enough bats to be trusted in high leverage situations.
