Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
FB 45 88-91 92 Below-avg fastball; can pump it up to low-90's when he needs to but it's rare; pitch is relatively straight; can cut it at times to give it a little wrinkle; control is good but command is inconsistent; finds the middle of the plate too often; loses a tick from the stretch.
SL 35 82-84 85 Okay horizontal movement; resembles a cutter at the higher velos; more of a change of pace pitch; command needs to be perfect (improve) or else it can and will gets crushed.
CH 30 82 83 Saw it in the first game; pitch had some dive but arm slowed noticeably; hitters could time the pitch if given enough opportunities; might be better to scrap the pitch and work on the two breakers.
CB 35 71; 74-76 78 Wide disparity in velos; all had more vertical drop than horizontal tilt and had what looked like the same grip; not much bite; loopy in both looks; not a plus pitch going forward; command was decent but could be improved.

Caughel can pitch a little bit, with a fastball that is slighly below average to fringe average and solid control. The command needs refinement, though. His secondaries need some work to become playable at the big league level (or even Double-A). I can see Caughel slowly working his way up the the chain and eventually reaching Triple-A in a few seasons, but I don't see a playable rotation arm here. Good org. depth in case of injury.
