Hit	60	Wide base. Short, simple stroke w/ minimal separation & above-avg hand speed. Still learning who he is as a hitter. Displays strong ball/strike recognition, but is still working on differentiating the strike zone vs. his zone. Frequently gets himself out by swinging at pitcher's pitches in hitter's counts. Fairly significant gap between present/future hit tool grades that he will need to close by way of improved swing decisions, but the raw ability is here for a plus hit tool/on base ability
Power	60	Generates easy plus-plus raw power to all fields & put on the most impressive BP at the Fall Stars game. Has yet to truly tap into it in-game, but projects as a consistent 30+ HR type w/ improvements in pitch selection
Baserunning/Speed	40	Comfortably a below-avg runner & likely to lose another half step w/ continued physical maturation
Glove	45	Bit of a stiff athlete on the dirt w/ fringy to below-avg range, but the hands are avg & he will show some instincts. Serviceable defender at 3B who will make the routine plays

Baty was 19.6-years old on draft day and then had what would have been his first full professional season wiped out due to a global pandemic, resulting in physical tools that have advanced more quickly than his pure baseball ability. The ingredients are here for an impact, middle-of-the-order run producer at 3B, but it will require additional development at the plate.
