Hit 60 An advanced middle-of-the-field approach and a high rate of contact ensure that Vargas will produce his share of hits. He's patient and selective in the batters box, reluctant to chase bad pitches or over-swing, optimizing his opportunities for success. He seems content with well executed at-bats, and doesn't lose his composure swinging for the fences.
Power 55 The power has yet to arrive, but it's coming. Vargas' naturally strong build, ability to use the whole field, and his proclivity for hard contact will translate to plus-power. His 29 doubles and 6 HR across two-levels in 2019 provide a glimpse of his power potential.
Baserunning/Speed 50 Not a speedster, but his advanced instincts, awareness, and general athleticism make him a good baserunner. Vargas doesn't steal often, but he has succeeded in 19-of-23 attempts over 160 games.
Glove 60 A plus-defender at third base, he's played some first base recently, adding versatility to his resume. Quick feet and balance get him in optimal fielding position, and his soft, receptive hands are adept at wrangling baseballs. Cat-like reactions and anticipation expand his range at the corner infield positions.
Arm 55 A quick release and pinpoint accuracy extend Vargas' otherwise moderate arm strength. The ability to throw on the move, from any angle or posture further enhances his defensive value.

A ballplayer's ballplayer. The 19-year-old demonstrates advanced baseball awareness and instincts in every facet of the game. He should ultimately hit for average and power, while providing plus-defense at either corner infield position. The ceiling is high for Vargas, who has a deep trove of baseball experience and advanced skills offensively and defensively. A Justin Turner-like all-around ballplayer, that should be contributing in The Show by 2021.
