Likes to pull pitches over the plate, but occasionally will take a pitch the opposite way. Adjusts shoulder plane to location. Quality feel for barrel. Quality and patient approach at the plate, but sometimes struggles to pick up advanced breaking/offspeed.

Alvarez has above average barrel control with a consistent swing tooled for hardest contact on line drives. He has the raw strength to hit 35 or more home runs, but swing will likely not tap fully into his HR potential.
