Jordan Henry, OF, Indians (Double-A Akron): 3-for-6, 3B, 3 R, K.

I'm featuring this player simply because it seems like he's not on many radars out there. What he can do is hit line drives, draw a fair share of walks, and bring plus-plus speed to the stable. All that is evidenced by a .305/.397/.356 line with 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts. What that line also shows you is that he has no power, as he's yet to go deep in 213 games as a pro with 87% of his hits going for singles. Still, there's big league value to this combination of tools and abilities.

Others Of Note:

  • Jose Altuve, 2B, Astros (High-A Lancaster); 4-for-4, R, RBI. See what being on the podcast can do for a guy? .383/.428/.556 in 40 games.
  • Lars Anderson, 1B, Red Sox (Triple-A Pawtucket): 2-for-3, HR (1), 2 R, 3 RBI, BB, K; 1-for-3, HR (2), R, RBI. Home runs in both ends of a double-header after failing to go deep in first 36 games; .273/.405/.379 overall.
  • Tim Beckham, SS, Rays (Double-A Montgomery): 2-for-5, 2B, R, RBI, 2 K. Hitting .404 in his last 12 games and .306/.380/.415 overall; rumors of his demise were premature.
  • Jesse Biddle, LHP, Phillies (Low-A Lakewood): 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 8 K. Best start of the year for last year's first-round pick who has not shown the velocity he did at the end of last year.
  • Gary Brown, OF, Giants (High-A San Jose): 2-for-5, 2 R, K. 27-for-56 (.482) during 12-game hitting streak; .375/.445/.518 in 39 games.
  • Michael Choice, OF, Athletics (High-A Stockton); 2-for-2, HR (7), R, 2 RBI, 3 BB, SB. On base 16 times in last six games and up to .257/.370/.493 overall; secondary skills could make up for low average all the way up the ladder.
  • Chase D'Arnaud, SS, Pirates (Double-A Indianapolis): 3-for-4, HR (3), 2 R, 2 RBI, K. Finally an answer at shortstop in Pittsburgh? 16-for-30 during eight-game hitting streak and .285/.358/.444 on the year; solid but unspectacular.
  • Travis D'Arnaud, C, Blue Jays (Double-A New Hampshire): 3-for-3, 2 2B, 2 R, RBI. 12-for-26 in May and .284/.361/.459 overall; just needs to stay healthy to be one of the better catching prospects in the game.
  • Jordan Danks, OF, White Sox (Triple-A Charlotte): 3-for-4, 2B, 2 R, RBI. .258/.343/.558 line is a big surprise, and White Sox need help offensively.
  • Chris Dwyer, LHP, Royals (Double-A Northwest Arkansas): 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 2 K. Best start of the year; ERA still at 5.82 in eight outings.
  • Robbie Erlin, LHP, Rangers (High-A Myrtle Beach): 6.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 9 K. ERA goes up to 2.22 but K/BB ratio increases to a remarkable 56/5 in 48.2 innings.
  • Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, Diamondbacks (Double-A Mobile): 4-for-6, 2 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI. .338/.465/.706 in 38 games; greatly reduced strikeout rate has him looking like the real deal.
  • Anthony Gose, OF, Blue Jays (Double-A New Hampshire): 1-for-2, HR (2), 2 R, 3 RBI, BB, K. Nine of his 16 RBI on the season have come in his last four games; .271/.360/.368 has been bolstered by an 882 OPS in May.
  • Jedd Gyorko, 3B, Padres (High-A Lake Elsinore): 4-for-5, 2B, HR (10), 3 R, 5 RBI. Starting to move into crazy-hot mode; 27-for-64 (.422) during 15-game hitting streak that includes eight doubles and five home runs; .389/.460/.691 in 40 games overall.
  • Jae-Hoon Ha, OF, Cubs (Double-A Tennessee): 2-for-5, R, 2 RBI, K, CS. 5-for-14 (.357) in first three Double-A games; combines hitting skills with solid speed and good defense.
  • Billy Hamilton, SS, Reds (Low-A Dayton): 2-for-3, 3B, R, RBI, BB, 2 SB; 1-for-3, R, 3 SB, CS. Hopefully snapping out of slump despite a .281 OBP he steal leads the minors with 29 stolen bases.
  • Josh Hamilton, OF, Rangers (Double-A Frisco): 2-for-4, HR (1), R, 2 RBI. Needless to say, he looked fine.
  • Aaron Hicks, OF, Twins (High-A Fort Myers): 2-for-4, 2B, 2 R, BB, K, SB. Has reached base 20 times in last 10 games; .244/.352/.370 overall and surging.
  • A.J. Jimenez, C, Blue Jays (High-A Dunedin): 3-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI. 17-for-43 (.395) during 11-game hitting streak and .367/.402/.517 overall; has thrown out 43 percent of opposing base stealers.
  • Mike Leake, RHP, Reds (Triple-A Louisville): 5.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 4 K. Minor league debut, which seems weird.
  • Hak-Ju Lee, SS, Rays (High-A Charlotte): 2-for-4, 2 R, RBI, BB, K, SB. Has cooled off a bit (how could he not?), but still at .383/.454/.539 in 28 games.
  • Brad Lincoln, RHP, Pirates (Triple-A Indianapolis): 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K. 1.80 ERA in last four starts after poor start; should get another big league audition at some point.
  • Matt Lipka, SS/2B, Braves (Low-A Rome): 2-for-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI; 2-for-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI. Zero extra base hits in first 36 games but then four doubles in a day; .252/.308/.277 overall.
  • Jermaine Mitchell, OF, Athletics (Double-A Midland): 3-for-4, 2B, 3B, HR (6), 3 R, 2 RBI, BB, SB. 26-year-old old and past his prospect window, but hitting .363/.486/.678 in 38 games with 11 triples.
  • Matt Rizzotti, 1B, Phillies (Double-A Reading): 3-for-5, 2 HR (8), 2 R, 4 RBI. Sure he's a bat-only guy, but he leads the Eastern League in hits, doubles, slugging, extra-base hits, and total bases while ranking among the top five in batting, home runs, RBIs, on-base percentage and runs.
  • Aderlin Rodriguez, 3B, Mets (Low-A Savannah): 2-for-4, 2 HR (9), 2 R, 3 RBI, BB. Huge power, but big questions about hitting ability and can't play third base; .208/.255/.429 in 38 games.
  • Adrelton Simmons, SS, Braves (High-A Lynchburg): 2-for-4, 2 RBI, SB. .326/.380/.388 line in 34 games is massive surprise; scout says, “He has an 'S' on his chest defensively.”
  • Jameson Taillon, RHP, Pirates (Low-A West Virginia): 4 IP, 7 H, 4 R (3 ER), 0 BB, 4 K. Stuff has been good as expected, command has not.
  • LeVon Washington, OF, Indians (Low-A Lake County): 2-for-3, 2 R, RBI, BB, SB. First mutli-hit game of since arriving from extended; .258/.343/.323 in eight games.

This was planned as a quick one due to some other priorities today, but I ended up listing 33 players, anyway. What can I say? It's a disease.

Others Of Note:

  • Dustin Ackley, 2B, Mariners (Triple-A Tacoma): 3-for-5, HR (6), 3 R, RBI, K. Mariners are indicating he will be in the big leagues soon; 16-for-33 in last eight games and .280/.399/.445 on the year.
  • Jason Adam, RHP, Royals (Low-A Kane County): 4.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 3 K. Pro debut for over slot fifth-round pick with huge upside.
  • Brandon Allen, 1B, Diamondbacks (Triple-A Reno): 1-for-3, HR (6), 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB. Doing his best to earn another look with the big boys; hitting .368/.493/.667 in 18 May games.
  • Yonder Alonso, OF/1B, Reds (Triple-A Louisville): 13-for-25 in last six games and .341/.396/.563 in 35 games; would certainly big an upgrade in left field for the Reds.
  • Manny Banuelos, LHP, Yankees (Double-A Trenton): 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K. Best start of the year as he's recovered from early-season blister issues.
  • Brandon Belt, 1B, Giants (Triple-A Fresno): 1-for-2, HR (3), R, 5 RBI, 2 BB. Despite big leagues struggles, he's proving 2010 was not a fluke; .387/.529/.600 in 24 games since demotion.
  • Charlie Blackmon, OF, Rockies (Triple-A Colorado Springs): 2-for-4, 2B, HR (8), 2 R, RBI, BB, 2 K. Fourth straight multi-hit game and .327/.392/.582 overall; scouts have upgraded him to good every day player over the last 12 months.
  • Jake Brigham, RHP, Rangers (Double-A Frisco): 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 K. Sleeper arm in a system full of pitching has power frame and good velocity; 44 Ks in 45.2 IP.
  • Domonic Brown, OF, Phillies (Triple-A Lehigh Valley): 1-for-2, R, 2 RBI, 2 BB. On-base 20 times in ten games at Triple-A; .361/.444/.583.
  • Gary Brown, OF, Giants (High-A San Jose): 3-for-5, 2B, RBI, K. Hitting .433 in May and .374/.446/.521 overall; needs to be tested at Double-A.
  • Sean Burroughs, 3B, Diamondbacks (Triple-A Reno): 5-for-5, 3 2B, 3B, 2 R, 4 RBI. How cool is it that this guy is hitting .386/.434/.571?
  • Zack Cox, 3B, Cardinals (High-A Palm Beach): 2-for-5, HR (3), R, RBI, K. From no home runs in first 30 games to three in last six; .331/.353/.434 in 36 games.
  • James Darnell, 3B, Padres (Double-A San Antonio): 2-for-4, 2 HR (8), 2 R, 6 RBI, K. Hitting .371/.469/.667 in 35 games, and that's with a bit of a down May.
  • Kelvin DeLeon, OF, Yankees (Low-A Charleston): 1-for-4, HR (8), R, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K. Five home runs in last seven games and up to .233/.301/.451; huge power but massive holes in swing.
  • Derek Dietrich, SS, Rays (Low-A Bowling Green): 3-for-5, 2 2B, RBI, K. .299/.351/.556 in 33 games; advanced for the level but the bat has impressed.
  • Anthony Gose, OF, Blue Jays (Double-A New Hampshire): 3-for-4, R, 2 RBI, K. 6-for-11 in last three games and up to .268/.350/.345.
  • Jedd Gyorko, 3B, Padres (High-A Lake Elsinore): 2-for-4, 2B, 2 R, RBI, BB, 2 SB. 14-game hitting streak has lifted averages to .376/.451/.662; like Brown, he doesn't belong here.
  • Aaron Hicks, OF, Twins (High-A Fort Myers): 2-for-4, HR (2), R, 2 RBI, 2 K. Showing some signs of life with a .273/.397/.455 mark in May.
  • Brett Lawrie, 3B, Blue Jays (Triple-A Las Vegas): 3-for-3, 3B, HR (9), 3 R, 2 RBI, K. Hitting .337/.395/.615 over 39 games, but more importantly to his chances at a call up, just one error in his last 27 games after committing six in his first 12.
  • Trevor May, RHP, Phillies (High-A Clearwater): 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 11 K. Beginning to miss a ton of bats; 36 strikeouts over 23 innings in last four starts.
  • Devin Mesoraco, C, Reds (Triple-A Louisville): 5-for-6, 2B, 2 R, RBI. Yup, 2010's breakout was the real deal; .319/.406/.538 in 33 games.
  • Juan Nicasio, RHP, Rockies (Double-A Tulsa): 7 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 9 K. 60 strikeouts against just 10 walks in 49.2 innings; could be lining self up for big league look at some point in the season.
  • Deck McGuire, RHP, Blue Jays (High-A Dunedin): 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K. Best start of brief pro career; 2.32 ERA in eight games and should be in Double-A for second half.
  • Mike Moustakas, 3B, Royals (Triple-A Omaha): 2-for-4, 2B, HR (8), R, RBI, BB, K. Starting to go off with .339/.424/.661 line in 14 May games; get ready for another much-hyped arrival in Kansas City.
  • D'Vontrey Richardson, OF, Brewers (High-A Brevard County): 6-for-6, 2B, 3 R, RBI, CS. As far as those who you would not expect to go 6-for-6, this is one of the top picks; batting average up 47 points to .260/.324/.360.
  • Manny Soliman, RHP, Twins (Low-A Beloit): 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 11 K. Converted infielder has plus fastball/slider combination; 47 strikeouts in 31.2 innings.
  • Rubi Silva, OF, Cubs (High-A Daytona): 2-for-4, HR (1), 2 R, RBI. Second High-A game for Cuban signee who showed intriguing tools in the Midwest League.
  • J.C. Sulbaran, RHP, Reds (High-A Bakersfield): 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 13 K. Talented, but inconsistent and oft-injured.
  • Mike Trout, OF, Angels (Double-A Arkansas): 2-for-3, 2B, R, 2 BB, SB. .315/.400/.569 in 34 games and 1075 OPS in May.
  • Cory Vaughn, OF, Mets (Low-A Savannah): 1-for-3, HR (3), R, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K. Home runs in back-to-back games; up to .349/.482/.504.
  • Jemile Weeks, 2B, Athletics (Triple-A Sacramento): 3-for-5, R, 2 RBI, SB. .325/.418/.467 line should lead to second base job in Oakland next year.
  • Robert Whitenack, RHP, Cubs (Double-A Tennessee): 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K. Best Double-A start since moving up in late April. Just 17 Ks in 30 innings but 2.5 groundball ratio.
  • Brandon Workman, RHP, Red Sox (Low-A Greenville): 4 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K. His struggles at Low-A have been surprising; 4.68 ERA with league hitting .282 against him.

Adam Miller, RHP, Indians (High-A Kinston): 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K.

Once the top prospect in the system, Miller's career was derailed by a bizarre finger ailment that made it painful for him to even grip a baseball at times, but he's back, he's in the bullpen, and he's pitching very well of late, whiffing seven over four shutout innings. Now 26 years old, Miller has been showing 90-93 mph heat while occasionally touching 95, but his once-sharp slider is a bit flat and his command has been wavering. He hasn't been healthy and good since 2006, and didn't even pitch the last two years, so the fact that he's simply here is a testament to his desire and makeup, and it's impossible not to root for him.

Others Of Note:

  • Dustin Ackley, 2B, Mariners (Triple-A Tacoma): 2-for-3, R, RBI, 2 BB. Coming on strong with a .359/.475/.594 line in May.
  • Jose Altuve, 2B, Astros (High-A Lancaster): 2-for-4, 2 2B. 7-for-13 in last three games leading up to tonight's podcast interview; .379/.426/.562 overall.
  • Nathan Eovaldi, RHP, Dodgers (Double-A Chattanooga): 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K. Right-hander has above-average fastball and curve; 2.80 ERA in seven starts while limiting Southern League hitters to .190 batting average.
  • Daniel Fields, OF, Tigers (High-A Lakeland): 3-for-4, 2B, R, 3 RBI, K. Not great, but certainly better and still toolsy; .246/.333/.393 in 33 games.
  • Jae-Hoon Ha, OF, Cubs (Double-A Tennesee): 2-for-4, 2B, R. Double-A debut for 20-year-old Korean outfielder who hit .311/.344/.523 in 35 High-A games.
  • Jason Hagerty, C, Padres (High-A Lake Elsinore): 3-for-3, 3B, HR (3), 4 R, 2 RBI, BB. Offense-first catcher with power and patience; hitting .278/.355/.474 but need to improve behind the plate.
  • Bryce Harper, OF, Nationals (Low-A Hagerstown): 0-for-5, R, BB, K. First back-to-back zero hit games since the second and third games of the season; still at .366/.447/.656.
  • Brett Lawrie, 3B, Blue Jays (Triple-A Las Vegas): 2-for-4, 2B, R, 3 RBI, BB, K. Up to .325/.381/.578 at 38 games; Jays could probably live with the bad defense considering their third base situation.
  • Alex Liddi, 3B, Mariners (Triple-A Tacoma): 2-for-4, 2B, R, 2 RBI, 2 K. 18 total bases in last five games and up to .257/.329/.493 after horrific start.
  • Brian Matusz, LHP, Orioles (High-A Frederick): 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K. Struggled with command a bit in first rehab start, but good news is he felt fine afterward.
  • Tyler Matzek, LHP, Rockies (High-A Modesto): 4.1 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 BB, 5 K. Has lasted just ten innings in his last three starts while allowing 12 runs and walking 16.
  • Tommy Mendonca, 3B, Rangers (Double-A Frisco): 2-for-4, 2B, HR (10), R, 2 RBI. Hitting .317/.338/.579 in 35 games, but can it last with four walks and 44 strikeouts in 145 at-bats?
  • Mike Moustakas, 3B, Royals (Triple-A Omaha): 2-for-5, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, K. Has shaken off bad April with a .327/.410/.596 line in May.
  • Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF, Mets (Triple-A Buffalo): 2-for-4, 2B, 3B, R, BB, 2 K. A better option than Fernando Martinez, but not on the 40-man; .312/.416/.567 in 39 games.
  • Martin Perez, LHP, Rangers (Double-A Frisco): 7.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 10 K. Career high in both innings and strikeouts; can he finally shake the inconsistency label?
  • Anthony Rizzo, 1B, Padres (Triple-A Tucson): 2-for-4, 2 HR (12), 2 R, 5 RBI, BB, K. Even playing in the friendly confines of Tucson can't explain away a .376/.448/.723 line; as there significant growth here as well.
  • Gary Sanchez, C, Yankees (Low-A Charleston): 1-for-3, HR (4), 2 R, 2 RBI, BB. K. Here comes the hot streak? Three home runs in last four games and up to .231/.292/.417.
  • Blake Smith, OF, Dodgers (High-A Rancho Cucamonga): 3-for-5, 2 HR (9), 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 K. Some preferred him as a power reliever out of college; plenty of power, but also big holes in swing and a .270/.321/.507 line in 36 games.
  • Michael Taylor, OF, Athletics (Triple-A Sacramento): 3-for-4, RBI. Back from a wrist injury and 6-for-16 in his first four games.
  • Mike Trout, OF, Angels (Double-A Arkansas): 2-for-5, 3B, 2 R. Snaps out of 2-for-15 slump; .307/.386/.559 in 33 games and doesn't turn 20 until August.
  • Cory Vaughn, OF, Mets (Low-A Savannah): 2-for-4, HR (2), 2 R, 2 RBI, BB. First home run in 29 games, but he's hardly been slumping; 10-for-19 in last five games and .349/.481/.484 overall.
  • Zack Von Rosenberg, RHP, Pirates (Low-A Pirates): 2.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 1 K. Has been nothing short of awful since excellent season debut; 9.00 ERA in last six starts while allowing 39 hits in 28 innings.
  • Tim Wheeler, OF, Rockies (Double-A Tulsa): 2-for-4, 3B, HR (12), R, RBI, K. Hitting .414 in May with six home runs in 15 games and overall line of .326/.411/.695 in 36 games; average-to-plus tools across the board lend to possibility of this being real.
  • Joe Wieland, RHP, Rangers (High-A Myrtle Beach): 6.1 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 8 K. In his last five starts, he's struck out 34 over 32.1 innings while walking zero.
