Doug Fister was incredibly lucky to escape the line drive off his head yesterday with only a bruise. He remained in the game after throwing a few pitches.
CC Sabathia had surgery yesterday to remove a bone spur in his left elbow. He is expected to make a full recovery in time for spring training. … Chad Tracy had clean-up surgery on his left knee and is expected to miss a few months. … Ryan Zimmerman had surgery on his troublesome right shoulder but is only expected to miss six to eight weeks. … Paul Janish had surgery on his left shoulder to prevent further dislocations. For the best results, he needs to avoid stressing it too early and could be out until April.
