2016-02-03 20:00:00 (link to chat)With our new prospects draft approaching, I need to make room for two MiLB spots. Which two get the axe? Adam Walker, Tyler Goeddel, Tyler White or Alex Blandino? If I had to guess, it'll be Benintendi and someone like Naylor or Austin Riley replacing them.
(Wally from LA)
Goeddel was taken in the Rule 5, so I'd probably hold him and see if he can stick. Blandino is the other keep here but I can't wait to see what Tyler White does this year. (Greg Wellemeyer)
2015-06-30 19:00:00 (link to chat)True or false - Alex Blandino will be starting for the Reds somewhere by 2016 all-star break.
(R B from Wallowing in my ego)
False, but the Reds are moving him fast and if he doesn't stumble at AA it's not an impossibility. I think 2017 is a more responsible guess. (Mike Gianella)
2015-06-02 18:00:00 (link to chat)I enjoyed your podcast about shortstop prospects, but was interested in the omission of Alex Blandino, who I'd have thought would have been at or near the back end of the top 10 SS prospects in the minors. What's your take on Blandino, and has his strong showing this year changed his standing at all for you?
(edwardarthur from Illinois)
There are a few names we thought about but for me personally I don't think Blandino is a shortstop long term and the probability that he plays the position is lower than the other names that did make the list. The bat has some potential in it and he has a good approach so he has a shot but he was off the list for me. (Mauricio Rubio)
2014-06-05 14:00:00 (link to chat)Who is someone that will be popped in the late 1st/sandwich rd that in 3-4 years we won't believe how he lasted that long?
(Shawn from Office)
It's a long list considering the tight clustering of talent and team-to-team variation on the boards. Some of my favorite talents that I don't see readers often asking about (which I take to mean they aren't getting big national pub) are Michael Kopech (RHP, Mt. Pleasant (TX)), Mitch Keller (RHP, Xavier (IA)), Alex Blandino (3B/2B, Stanford), Chase Vallot (C, St. Thomas More (LA)), Carson Sands (N. Florida Christian (FL)), and Sean Reid-Foley (Sandalwood (FL)).

If by chance Touki or Chavis fall, that could be a steal, as well. (Draft Day Chat with Nick J. Faleris)
2014-05-30 12:00:00 (link to chat)Who are the best pure-bat prospects well outside of 1st round consideration?
(Ringo from Strawberry Fields)
Kind of a tough question since the best pure bets are going to be snatched up in or around the first round. I'll say Alex Blandino and Mike Papi are better hitters than their production this spring might indicate. Evan Skoug has a first round bat skewed to power, but no valuable defensive home. (Pre-Draft Chat with Nick J. Faleris)
