2016-03-09 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Trying to slim down on my lower tier SP for dynasty, help me rank this group, please? Roenis Elias, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Matt Wisler, Alex Meyer, Ervin Santana & Alex Wood (Meh SPs from Chicago) | I'd go Alex Wood, Santana, Wisler, Meyer, Chi Chi, and Elias. They're all pretty close to me with the exception of Elias. (Mike Gianella) |
2015-02-06 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Do you think the Mariners could have Roenis Elias fix his mechanics? He has a fantastic Changeup and Curveball, but his release points are all over the place. (Dylan from RI) | I'm not sure I'd call that a mechanical flaw. Some guys actually can and like to vary their slot. It's unusual, but it can work for some. (Harry Pavlidis) |
2014-06-27 14:00:00 (link to chat) | What are your thoughts on Roenis Elias? He has looked pretty good so far this season. Can he keep it up and potentially develop into a 2/3 starter? (Steve from Chicago) | Elias has an excellent breaking ball, but his delivery can be very inconsistent. He lacks power in the delivery and his stability wavers, and he makes some alterations when pitching from the stretch that harm his ability to repeat. He certainly could develop into a No. 3, but that will depend on how well he can harness his repetition. (Doug Thorburn) |
2014-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Although he got shelled last night, what have been your overall thoughts on Roenis Elias? Is he for real, or is this just some sustained flukey success? (Danny from Chicago) | Ehhh... he's just kinda whatever to me. I thought he'd collapse when he first came up, but after seeing a handful of starts, I think he can be a reasonable high-3.00s, low-4.00s guy with the occasional gem. (Paul Sporer) |
2014-05-21 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What's your opinion on Roenis Elias' career outlook?
(Can I also say "HI" to our pal Boxy, it's dusty and dark in the basement, we worry he's becoming weird!) (silvergun from ON) | I didn't really consider him for the SP Guide bc he was 24 in AA, but he has impressed. I don't think he's *special*, but I think he's got some real talent capable of being fantasy viable in most formats (probably not much more than a streamer option in 10-12 tm leagues) (Paul Sporer) |
2014-04-16 19:00:00 (link to chat) | I'm in a 10 team mixed league with QS in place of W. Right now my starters are Strasburg, Sonny Gray, and Michael Pineda. I have an open roster spot I want to fill with another starter to give me a shot at competing in QS. I figure I might as well grab another long shot starter to join Gray and Pineda. I have it narrowed down to Danny Salazar, Jose Quintana, Taijuan Walker, or Roenis Elias. Who's my best bet? (Kyle from Detroit) | Good god man, step away from Roenis Elias. Out of the options you listed, Quintana is the safest bet while Salazar provides the highest upside. If you're truly just going for QS, I guess I'd go Quintana. I like Salazar a bit more overall, though, even if he's overrated. Walker's injury scares me now, so I'm staying away. (Ben Carsley) |
2014-04-03 19:30:00 (link to chat) | Who is this Roenis Elias guy? Why isn't he in ESPN's database yet? What kind of crackerjack operation are they running over there? (RotoLando from Cloud City) | He's making the jump from Double-A, iirc and wasn't much of a prospect. It's understandable, though frustrating if you're in a deep league (Craig Goldstein) |
No BP Roundtables have mentioned this guy.
