2013-11-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)A recent SB Nation winter meetings sim saw the mock A's trade Anderson, Choice, and $6M to the Phillies for Adam Morgan. If we leave aside the salary dump aspects of the trade, is Morgan worth such a package? How do you feel about the stuff and the shoulder?
(justarobert from Santa Clara)
I'm a fan of Choice so I don't think that works if it's just Morgan alone in the deal coming to Oakland. He's a nice prospect, but he's a max #3 for me. (Mark Anderson)
2013-04-16 20:00:00 (link to chat)Random "watch list" question. What are your thoughts on Arismendy Alcantara and Adam Morgan?
(Mitch from Iowa)
Both are good players to watch. Higher on Alcantara than Morgan, but Morgan's much closer to making a major league impact. (Bret Sayre)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Adam Morgan, could he have a higher ceiling that Biddle based upon the reports from spring training?
(Mike from Utica, NY)
He might. Very good arm. Developing. I'd probably put him above Biddle at this point. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-18 14:00:00 (link to chat)Any chance that Jesse Biddle or Adam Morgan get called up this year for the Phillies?
(mrollo1 from Haddonfield, NJ)
I think both would benefit from another full year in the minors, but if one is going to debut this year, my money would definitely be on Morgan. (Daniel Rathman)
2012-08-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)How do you know what to grade a change up/breaking ball at? Is it deception, speed and movement? For example I saw Adam Morgan pitch recently. Heard buzz around him, but didn't read any grades. The Change-up looked fantastic in my opinion. 10 MPH less then his fastball, good deception. I would have to imagine that would grade 65-70, but I don't know if that is to agressive or to light.
(rgatta from PA)
I don't get to caught up in the 10 mph rule with a CH. For me, a good changeup starts with the arm action and speed, as you want it to come out of the hand like a fastball. If a pitcher can provide that deception, that half of the battle right there. The action on the pitch is important as well. I like to see movement to the arm side and/or heavy life that pushes the ball out of the hitting zone after it appears to be a fastball heading into it. You want the pitch to offer velocity separation, and anything over 7-8 mph works for me. It all starts with deception, and if you can get movement and good a good velo dip, you have the makings of a very good pitch. (Jason Parks)
