2014-07-01 13:00:00 (link to chat) | what are your thoughts on Gabriel Guerrero ? (Joe Random from San Jose) | ooohhh, Gabby. I really, really like him. If you've ever seen him, he's almost an exact clone to his uncle. Same size, same legs, same ass, same swing, same approach. He won't hit for the same power as Vlad, but I believe he'll be close to a .300 hitter at the major league level, regardless of the strikeouts. The hand-eye coordination is insane. (Chris Rodriguez) |
2014-07-08 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What's your take on Gabriel Guerrero and Domingo Santana? GG didn't make BP's top 50 or even honourable mention and Santana wasn't eligible. Is the top 50 extra strong this year? Are their strikeouts going to prevent them from being stars? (hotstatrat / John Carter from beautiful Tuesday evening) | Guererro just isn't there yet. He's a really talented player that I know many on the BP team like, but he's not quite Top 50 material yet. I can see him entering into the discussion for the back of the Top 101 this off-season.
As for Santana, I think there are pretty big questions surrounding the hit tool and just how much of an impact bat he will have long term. I know people like him and with good reason, but liking him doesn't always equate to Top 50 or Top 101 status. (Mark Anderson) |
2014-06-03 14:00:00 (link to chat) | What are your thoughts of Gabriel Guerrero? How would he rank against other OF prospects like Tapia, N.Williams, Almora, Frazier, Josh Bell, etc? (Silverback38 from VA) | I haven't seen him, but he is absolutely a prospect and I know Chris Rodriguez likes him a lot. But you put him in with some heavy company. (Ron Shah) |
2014-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Thoughts on Nomar Mazara and Gabriel Guerrero? Do both emerge as top 101 prospects by the end of the year? (ahs430 from Anaheim, CA) | I don't have any thoughts on them, sorry. The minors are not my strongest suit. I end up watching a lot of MILB.tv in the offseason to catch up on young arms, but otherwise, I'm pretty firmly focused on watching MLB. (Paul Sporer) |
2014-05-27 11:30:00 (link to chat) | Gabriel Guerrero - believe in this year, or is it simply a byproduct of the Cal League? (Scott from CT) | I believe. The reports have been encouraging. I get that he struggled last year, but remember, not all development is linear. The CAL doesn't hurt, of course, but he's barreling balls more frequently, and the approach is taking a step forward. (Jordan Gorosh) |
2014-03-03 13:00:00 (link to chat) | I haven't heard much about Gabriel Guerrero, are you a fan? Is he someone who could start to appear on lists by midseason? (Rick from Dallas) | I wrote about Guerrero a lot last season; might have been the only guy beating that drum during camp of 2013. Yes; I really like him. Right now he looks the part more than acts the part, at least as it pertains to on-the-field production. But he has incredible bat speed and hand-eye coordination. Not sold on his pitch recognition skills, which could be a problem. (Jason Parks on the Completed Prospect Rankings) |
2014-01-02 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Do you have an under the radar prospect or someone that isn't getting any love that you want to tout? (chris from Phoenix) | I know he's known already, and had a pretty rough year but I still like Gabriel Guerrero a bunch. Other candidates include Chris Bostick, and Nick Williams, though both have received love. (Craig Goldstein) |
2013-11-14 13:00:00 (link to chat) | I'll go ahead and apologize for the blatant fantasy question, but in a medium-deep keeper league looking for lottery tickets, which one of Gabriel Guerrero, Manuel Margot, Franklin Barreto, Amed Rosario, and Ronald Guzman would you want? (Rob from Alaska) | You can't really go wrong with any of them if you're looking for lottery tickets. I've been particularly impressed with the reports on Rosario, but my eyes tell me Margot might be the guy I'd put my money on. (Mark Anderson) |
2013-05-16 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What's your take on Gabriel Guerrero? Could he possibly reach his Uncle's upside? (Bobby from Texas) | I love Gabriel Guerrero. He was one of my favorite players to watch this spring, and I ended up changing my plans several times to watch him during drills and game action. I think its a bit irresponsible to put a HOF ceiling on a young player, so I'll refrain from suggesting he has a similar upside to his uncle. But there are a lot of similarities in their games, and if Gabby can put it all together someday, he won't be a normal player. He has star potential, but its not going to be an overnight sensation. (Jason Parks) |
2013-05-10 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Mr. Vlad Guerrero's nephew Gabriel Guerrero tore up the summer league last year. Do you know if he has the chance to be anything close to his uncle when the time comes? Thanks for the chat! (Kyle from Minnesota) | To be fair, nothing is close to Vlad Guerrero. He was a rare specimen in so many ways. You might be able to comp Pablo Sandoval with respect to pure contact skills and approach at the plate, but the defensive profiles are miles apart. Gabriel Guerrero performed well in rookie league, but we are a long way from knowing whether his game will translate to the higher levels (.192/.232/.250 in 112 PA in the Midwest League this season). (Doug Thorburn) |
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat) | Which Seattle prospect gets on your top 100 next year? If both, who is higher: Gabriel Guerrero or Luiz Gohara? (Robert from Seattle) | Guerrero might be a better prospect in 2013 because he's ready to take on full-season ball. Gohara will be slower out of the gate, but substantial as a prospect once he starts putting together starts. (Jason Parks) |
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat) | Adalberto Mondesi and Gabriel Guerrero walk into a party.... (lpunkari from Fort Frances, Ontario) | And shit gets real (Jason Parks) |
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat) | strictly for fantasy purposes which prospect would you prefer if all players reached their potential.. Manuel Margot, Gabriel Guerrero or Mac Williamson? (tman12 from nyc) | Guerrero (Jason Parks) |
