2015-01-20 19:30:00 (link to chat)How does the Sean Coyle story play out?
(Vic from Baltimore)
I think Coyle is a second-division regular for a few years who also spends time as a backup. The problem is he doesn't have the arm for 3B or the range for SS, so he's not going to be very versatile. I think he'll hit and run his way to a roster spot for many years, though. Nice guy to have in a system. (Ben Carsley)
2015-01-28 19:00:00 (link to chat)Do you have a favorite prospect who's been under the radar (real life or fantasy)?
(Ben from New York)
I have a few at varying levels. Gleyber Torres is starting to get some love around the industry and I think this year is going to be a big one for him. In terms of real life I have a big crush on Tyler Danish. Dude competes and has the type of fastball I'm a sucker for.

Sean Coyle isn't going to be a special player in all likelihood but I like the way he plays. It's easy to slap grinder on him because he's a short MIFer but well, he's a grinder. I dig it. (Mauricio Rubio)
2014-11-04 18:00:00 (link to chat)Can we get your take on Sean Coyle? A certain snarky ESPN contributor gave his hit tool an above average grade. Can he be a first-division regular?
(Dave from Des Moines)
I struggle with Coyle. I've seen him good and I've seen him bad. I can't get myself to give him a robust MLB projection, and admittedly that may be some bizarre personal or scouting bias getting in the way. All he does is hit and play well at every level....at some point the performance matters more than the scouting bias or the questions about production, and if he keeps doing this, I'm going to have come around and adjust my perception of him. For the time being, he's more of a fringe MLB player for me. (Mark Anderson)
2014-09-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do you see Sean Coyle having a few years as a first division regular, though perhaps not in crimson stockings?
(Mario66 from Pittsburgh)
More of a second division profile at best. No real big time tools. Going to have to hit a lot, and swings out of his shoes for a little guy. It's an intriguing grinder type, but I don't think he has much positional versatility to be a utility guy either. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-07-07 11:00:00 (link to chat)Did Red Sox farmhands having huge years Deven Marrero, Sean Coyle, or Brian Johnson get consideration for the top 50?
(Nick from MA)
They didn't. (Jason Parks on the Top 50)
