2017 Oscar Hernandez was a rare Rule 5 pick who stuck, thanks to some roster engineering on the part of the Diamondbacks. He's light with the bat, but has the defensive chops to be a solid backup catcher.
2016 Rule 5 selectee Oscar Hernandez spent half the season with a broken hand, half the season playing over his head, and the whole season telling people he is Felix Hernandez's messy roommate.
2014 Oscar Hernandez made noise at the plate as a teenager in Venezuela with good bat speed, advanced feel for the zone and raw power; since then, his work with the glove has impressed stateside.

(Pete from Orlando )		They have Hanigan and Molina in the majors. After that they have a few generic minor-league backstops (Roman Ali Solis and Eddy Rodriguez) and a younger, potential backup catcher type in Curt Casali to round out the upper-minors. Deeper in the system they actually have some interesting prospects: Nick Ciuffo, David Rodriguez, and Oscar Hernandez. So they aren't necessarily great at the top levels, but as an organization they're okay. It's not like they could've kept Lobaton anyway. (R.J. Anderson)
