2014-04-16 19:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think about Mike Olt? Will he keep the job all year?
(MattN from Silver Spring)
I've been on the Olt bandwagon for too long to jump off now. The Cubs don't have much reason to not give him at least 400 PA this season - really, only Christian Villanueva could conceivably steal time away from him later in the season. I think he can be a low average, 25 homer guy. (Ben Carsley)
2014-03-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you have any favorite sleepers in the Cubs system? Also, do you think Mike Olt can resurrect his career?
(Duff Man from Shelbyville)
I'm excited about Olt. My friend Sahadev Sharma did some great reporting on Olt's vision issues, and, no pun intended, things have cleared up.
As far as sleepers, it's hard for me to say who would appear to be a sleeper ... Christian Villanueva? Arismendy Alcantara? The aforementioned Olt? If so, those guys. (Harry Pavlidis)
2012-10-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)As someone who was very high on Christian Villanueva while in the Rangers organization, would you be able to touch on what type of player he the Cubs got in return? Does he have 1st division potential? Would he be able to handle 2nd base?
(Andrew from IL)
I've seen him play 2B, but I think [athletically], he is a better fit for 3B. He has a very good glove, with clean actions, and a strong arm. His bat isn't all that special, but he has good hands and shows quality bat speed. I don't think he's big batting average type, but he might be able to achieve the .265-.270 range, with 10-15 bombs. Not a first division talent, but a steady major league regular if everything clicks. Big makeup as well. Works very hard. Good kid. (Jason Parks)
2012-08-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you expect Starlin Castro to switch positions any time soon? If so, when and to where?
(sitdancer from DC)
The Cubs are popular today.

I do believe Castro will change positions within the next three years. Ideally, you would slide Castro to center field and be done with it. The problem is he doesn't seem to profile well out there. That leaves third base or second base as the most likely locations. You'd like to think at least one of Josh Vitters and Christian Villanueva will develop, so I would guess Castro winds up at second base. (R.J. Anderson)
