2017-02-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey George, What are your thoughts on Alex Dickerson? What is his upside and do you think he gets regular AB's in the Padres OF. Would also appreciate your thoughts on Roman Quinn and his potential. Thanks.
(misterbob from philly)
My colleague Alex Chamberlain is the one to ask about Dickerson. My big concern is the playing time in San Diego. They need to find at-bats for guys like Margot, Renfroe and Jankowski. Someone is going to be the odd man out. I love Roman Quinn as a source of stolen bases. I think he can be an extremely valuable fantasy commodity, but playing time and injuries are huge variable that make him difficult to project long-term. (George Bissell)
2016-08-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Alex Dickerson? Only an 11% K rate and 7 homeruns in about 100 PA. I don't believe the power is sustainable, but he has always hit for average in the minors. What do you believe this guy's potential is? Is the hit tool real?
(holmesp2001 from St. Louis)
It's 100 PA so let's pump the breaks a little bit. There are plenty of guys who've hit at every level but haven't fared well once they hit the big leagues. The pitchers are going to adjust to him, and it's all a matter of how he adjusts back. (Nicolas Stellini)
2016-07-13 15:00:00 (link to chat)Is Alex Dickerson a big league starter?
(majorthomas from Texas)
I don't think so. (Brendan Gawlowski)
2013-11-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Looks like the Padres and Pirates just struck a deal. Jaff Decker and Miles Mikolas to the Pirates for first baseman/outfielder Alex Dickerson. Have any hot takes on the swap or the players?
(Chase from California)
It doesn't do anything for me on any level. (Jason Parks)
2013-11-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Schwarber can mash. But do you think he can stick behind the plate?
(patmhickey from Evansville, Ind.)
You touched on the biggest chink in his draft stock armor. I guess you run him out there as long as you can, but he's not a catcher for me. Maybe you can hide him in left? I don't love the fit at first base, either. Might end-up being handled similar to fellow Hoosier Alex Dickerson.

It'll also be dependent on who drafts him, right? Some orgs have shown a high level of tolerance for poor catcher defense in the name of offensive potential, whereas others wouldn't allow him to bring the tools of ignorance to the field. (Nick J. Faleris)
2013-11-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Alex Dickerson will never be a top prospect, but do you think he can be a decent starting 1st baseman in 2015.
(Dave from Pittsburgh)
He's a geared-to-pull lefty with maybe 55 playable pop and plays an "okay" first base. For my money that's a situational lefty bat off the bench, which is not without value for an NL club. (Nick J. Faleris)
2013-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)I'm in a keeper league that includes a 12 player minor league roster for the future. I currently own Stetson Allie and Rafael De Paula, my question is would you drop either or both of them for any of the following players: Alex Dickerson, Franklin Barreto, Eddie Butler, Lucas Sims? Thanks for your help!
(Jeff from Kansas City)
I'd take all of those guys over Allie, and especially Butler and Sims. (Jason Cole)
2013-07-29 11:00:00 (link to chat)Any reason to get excited about Alex Dickerson?
(Dave from Pittsburgh)
I don't really think so, his defense is well below average, and I don't think he hits nearly enough to play first. He's most likely a solid 4A guy that is able to get a few cups of coffee. (Zach Mortimer)
