DateQuestionAnswer
2009-04-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Are Dallas MacPherson and Chad Gaudin going to get major league jobs after being recently waived? If so, where?
(Peeig13 from The Second City)
Gaudin can relieve for many teams, and will probably have his choice. The Rangers, Pirates, Padres, Nationals...he'll have options. I'm trying to understand how a team can release McPherson, then trade for Ross Gload. (Joe Sheehan)
2008-07-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jeff, For the rest of 08 in a standard league how do you rank the following 1b: Konerko, Swisher, Cantu, La Roche, C Davis or Butler? Anyone jump out at you? Thanks
(Josh from Detroit)
Swisher/LaRoche/Konerko/Davis/Cantu/Butler. Butler rates so low because he hasn't hit for power yet at the major league level, and he just doesn't have the organizational commitment behind him. Ross Gload? Really? (Jeff Erickson)
2008-03-25 14:00:00 (link to chat)The Royals are going to cut Justin Huber, a young power hitter, which is something they are desperately in need of, in favor of Ross Gload and Joey Gathright. Is there any hope for this organization?
(Bearfrog from Dallas)
Well, I may be no big booster for Gload or Gathright, but if you want to scapegoat somebody, how about Ryan Shealy? I still don't get why people got all that worked up about Shealy. Similarly, I think my fellow statheads need to wrap their heads around the idea that Huber really isn't all that. He's not really that patient, he doesn't really have that much power, and physically, he really is only a first baseman. If you want to have him around instead of somebody else, pick on the older, just as right-handed first baseman who only ever mashed in Colorado Springs, and even that was off of thrice-cooked Triple-A lefty mound fodder. (Christina Kahrl)
