2020-02-14 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Thanks for the chat. What are your thoughts on Leody Taveras? I was offered Taveras, and Gio Urshela for Josh Donaldson in a 20 team dynasty league. Seems Taveras’ prospect status has declined rapidly!!! (Donnell from Washington, DC) | Bret Sayre still rides the Leody Taveras train, and is the reason Taveras made our dynasty 101, but he represents a small minority. That is not to say Taveras is without upside, but he is a better real-life prospect than a fantasy one given his limited power. Still, steals are in short supply and he could be a 20+ SB guy. Something like .270/10/20+ is certainly possible as a peak. Think Ender Inciarte.
Now, as for the offer, I prefer Donaldson to the package of Taveras/Urshela. To downgrade from Urshela to Donaldson, I'd want a borderline-top-50 prospect in return. (Jesse Roche) |
2019-08-30 16:00:00 (link to chat) | After drafting Miguel Andujar in 2018, I was expecting more of the same for the 3 additional years I was allowed to keep him. Well, can I expect a repeat of 2018 next year? (Vic from Baltimore) | Assuming his recovery is full, yeah, I think Andujar pretty much emerged fully formed in 2018. He *has* missed out on the hyperball this year, so the HR could end up in the 30s--but I would expect him to be the same hitter. Whether he can get the job back from Gio Urshela is another question...
Aaaaand Keston Hiura just hurt himself. Why do I love this game again? (Jon Hegglund) |
2015-03-06 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Tell me about Giovanny Urshela? Solid potential with what kind of upside? (Matthew from San Diego) | I can. And I will. He's one of the best defensive 3B prospects I've seen in quite some time, and he's got quality bat-to-barrel skills. I think he's a starter, maybe even an above-average one. (Christopher Crawford) |
2015-02-04 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Any thoughts on Giovanny Urshela? His always been a 60/70 defender, and scouts have finally taken notice, but he showed undeniable improvement with the bat this year. Highest BB% of his career and showed major uptick in power production. If he can be an even average hitter in the majors I would think he would be an incredible asset for the Tribe. (username49 from Ohio) | Incredible is likely overstating it, but he's gone from a guy who's been under appreciated to a nice prospect. The improvements with the bat are undeniable, but it's really whether or not he's going to make enough consistent hard contact at the big league level. I'd grade him as more of a 60 defender than a 70, but regardless, he and Lindor could be a nice, controllable left side of the infield. (Jordan Gorosh) |
