2013 The toolsy center fielder had his breakout campaign and reached the level of his incompetence in the same season. In his second exposure to the California League, his power played up and he torched the league with a .374 batting average on balls in play, echoing his strong 2010 season, when he was repeating in the high-offense Pioneer League. All that progress vanished after a June promotion to Arkansas, as the swing-and-miss in his game returned and his speed failed to spook superior defenders. He’ll get another shot at conquering Double-A in 2013, but, on the verge of turning 24, he has all of Bourjos’s faults with only a fraction of the success.
