2014-07-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)How concerned should I be about Edwin Escobar after yesterday's subpar performance and a less-than-stellar year in AAA so far?
(nmccurley1 from LA)
Don't concern yourself with anything based on one inning in the Future's Game, where guys react differently to the big spotlight, trying to overthrow/swing, etc. I wouldn't be too too worried about his year in Triple-A either. the PCL can be tough.

While we're at it, let's not get too over-excited by anything good that happened in the future's game either... (Jeff Moore)
2014-04-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)Re Aiken & Kolek, I love prospects, maybe too much, but does it make sense to take a HS pitcher? Gotta be 3 or 4 years minimum until they help you.
(sean3258 from PA)
Exactly our feeling. Edwin Escobar, just to pick a name at random, is still available in more than a quarter of NL-only leagues. Aiken and Kolek are much better, for sure, but that's a long time waiting on a player with huge bust potential, as all high school pitchers have. Everyone has their place, and we'd take them, but probably not at where they'll end up going. (Scoresheet Chat with Ben, Jared, and Ian)
2014-02-18 14:00:00 (link to chat)Which prospect in the Giants system besides Crick has the most upside?
(Chris from Bay Area)
One of their arms. I'll go with Adalberto Mejia, who has a chance for three plus pitches. Someone could make a case for Edwin Escobar, but I won't do that. (Ronit Shah)
2013-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Edwin Escobar anything more than a back end starter?
(GTM from Denton)
Most likely not. Throws strikes with decent, though not great, stuff. Good get for the Giants back in spring training 2010. The Rangers wanted to hold on to Rule 5 pick Ben Snyder after he didn't make the opening-day roster, so they sent Escobar (who hadn't played above the complex league) to the Giants to retain Snyder. He's turning out nicely. (Jason Cole)
2013-07-29 11:00:00 (link to chat)Would you rank: Jesse Hahn, Edwin Escobar, Carlos Contreras, and Ross Stripling. Overall thoughts on them?
(boneil33 from Boston)
Escobar: really doing well with FB/CH combination
Hahn: could be a starter spoke to other issues previously
Stripling: solid reliever
Contreras: solid reliever (Zach Mortimer)
2013-05-30 13:30:00 (link to chat)Edwin Escobar has reportedly been up to 96 this year. How good do you think he is?
(Josh G from Stockton, CA)
Escobar is really making some strides this year and he has some potential as a #4 starter. The breaking ball is still lagging behind, which is a concern, but the fastball is Major League quality and the changeup should be at least average in the end. (Mark Anderson)
2012-12-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Edwin Escobar in the Giants system someone to get excited about?
(Kevin from SF Bay Area)
I saw him a lot at the complex level; been a while since I put eyes on him. I used to like him a bit. I wouldn't get super excited about him. Might pitch in the majors one day. (Jason Parks)
