2017-06-13 12:00:00 (link to chat)What is Kevin Newman going to be?
(Hector from Texas)
How much do you like Jordy Mercer? (Craig Goldstein)
2017-05-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Kevin Newman? Does he take over for Jordy Mercer in the next year or two?
(Justin from The Fieldhouse)
Newman is like the Dom Smith of shortstop prospects for me. He's fine. I get it. It's a solid major leaguer. It just doesn't excite me. But I imagine that is the timetable yes. And speaking of... (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2015-10-07 19:30:00 (link to chat)Follow up: Which of these two teams offends you more by their decision to choose an alternate uni for tonight's game? Also, who hits the first flyball for PIT and in what inning?
(JQ from NJ)
Jordy Mercer, second. :)

Neither. I prefer these unis to the Cubs' grays and the Bucs' whites. In a perfect world, Pitt wears their throwbacks, though. - MT

Gonna disagree with Matt here, and say no flyballs are gonna happen this game. I feel good about this. - CG (NL Wild Card Game Chat)
2015-06-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)If you were the Mets, what would your infield configuration be for the rest of the season (with Wright and without)? Has Tejada done enough at the plate to start getting consideration for more playing time at SS?
(mattstupp from NYC)
If I were the Mets I probably wouldn't have the same collection of players for the remainder of the season. That doesn't mean Tulo, but I'd shop around to see how I could rearrange the parts. Maybe that means trading Daniel Murphy, maybe it means trading Wilmer Flores. Either way, the Mets have too many options at second and third and not enough at shortstop, so trying to snag a Jordy Mercer (who is admittedly having a poor season) or someone along those lines would appeal to me.

As for Tejada, I would reckon he has done enough to earn more PT. Even so, I'm not banking on him keeping it up (in terms of hitting or playing time)-in part because the Mets aren't sweet on him (reportedly due to work ethic concerns). (R.J. Anderson)
2014-07-03 19:00:00 (link to chat)I am so up in the air about 2B and SS where to look for the future in Dynasty league. Can you rate the following. DJ LeMahieu, Marwin Gonzalez, Brian Dozier Jordy Mercer,. Thank you for the time you put into this. As of now I have Doizer at 2nd and Mercer at SS with Jose Reyes.
(OB1 from NYC)
Woof.

Dozier, Marwin, DJ, Jordy. (Mauricio Rubio)
2013-04-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)As we near the end of the Clint Barmes era in Pit, will Jordy Mercer get first crack or will he be leapfrogged by Hanson, Santos, Ngoepe, etc.?
(Statorama from WI)
Hi Statorama. With the disclaimer that I am nowhere near this situation, my guess from just looking at their ages and levels of experience would be for Mercer or Santos to get first crack. The others seem too far away. (Geoff Young)
