2016 Soft-tossing lefty Jeff Beliveau underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. It will be a rough journey, Jeff. Don't stop beli... never mind.
2015 A typical flight between Raleigh-Durham and Tampa costs about $330 without advance notice. Based on that figure, Beliveau has booked over $4,000 in flights since joining the Rays in 2013. His most recent recall, on July 22nd, could end up being his last. A slender left-hander with marginal velocity, he does not stand out, especially in a 'pen with live arms. As you'd expect, though, he has pitchability, good control and enough stuff to get outs at the highest level. His fastball, which barely touches 90, is typically thrown up and away regardless of the batter. He also features a pair of breaking balls: a curve in the mid-70s and a harder slider. He uses all three against lefties and righties alike. The slider is shorter and gets more swings and misses, while the curve has more length and often ends plate appearances. As a second lefty who can get outs on both sides, Beliveau may finally stop living out of his suitcase.
2014 Jeff Beliveau, an early-season waiver claim from the Rangers, was called up four different times in 2013 and finally got to pitch two-thirds of an inning in a September 27th blowout, consummating a season's worth of dry humps.
2013 Ticketed as a reliever very early in his minor-league career, and honored as the Cubs' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2011, Beliveau finally got his shot at the majors last year and did nothing impressive with it. Because he has the gift of being left-arm dominant, he's likely to get a few more chances and may even stick somewhere as a LOOGY, but it's looking unlikely that he finds himself as that rara avis, the lefty reliever who can pitch well against right-handers. The Rangers claimed him off waivers.
2012 Jeff Beliveau has 18th-round stuff, but the lefty is crafty enough to befuddle minor-leaguers, and he'll get a chance soon to try it in the bigs.
2011 Never trust a big butt and smile, but Jeff Beliveau is only poison to lefty batters, striking out 38 percent of them at Daytona.

2014-04-09 19:00:00 (link to chat)Can you believe that Craig unfollowed me when I got to 420 followers? The nerve of some people. Anyway, with Matt Moore hurt, do you have any clue who will take his rotations spot or how worth it they would be to own? Also important, why is no one paying me to talk baseball? Thanks for all the answers, Kevin
(Kevin Brown from New York)
I can absolutely believe that. I think Jeff Beliveau will take his spot but I wouldn't go heavy on him. I think Odorizzi's stock goes up though. (Mauricio Rubio)
