Not a believer still? (Adam from NY) | I did write the scathing comment, and regardless of what happens I still think it's right--the first round is not the place for outright speculation, and even if Brackman eventually becomes something useful I disagree with the philosophy that made the pick possible in the first place. He has been good lately 46-6 strikeout walk ratio in his last 47 innings, and that he has found his command given his lack of experience is a heck of a thing. But he's also a 24-year-old pitching in High-A ball. Let's talk again when/as/if he moves up. (Steven Goldman) |

He'll make the top 11, but there will be other pitchers ahead of him. It's hard to ignore the ceiling, but at the same time, he's 23, has never pitched in a pro game other than Hawaii, has a TJ, and has no record of sustained success ANYWHERE, EVER as an amateur. That's way too many red flags for me. People who have seen him in Hawaii are saying the same stuff they said when he was an NC State. (jschmeagol from Weifang, China) | The real question above, I think, is whether Gerrit Cole has Boras take his demands high enough to drop in the Tigers or Yankees region. KG talked at the Chicago book signing about how teams are more likely to go above slot this year, so that indicates Cole is a little less likely to drop. I think the Yankees taking 6-8 Scott Green would be a nice compliment to Andrew Brackman and a slap in the Red Sox face, who nearly signed Green last August. (Bryan Smith) |

Although he has not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Andrew Brackman threw 131 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2011 and 2012, all of them occuring in Spring Training. In 2012, he relied primarily on his Fourseam Fastball (91mph) and Curve (78mph). He also rarely threw a Change (85mph).
