2011 Former shortstop Oscar Tejeda moved to second base, where he is a better defensive fit. At the plate, he acted more like a second baseman rather than the power hitter he isn't, which resulted in his top campaign to date, but he needs to whiff less or walk more to keep it up.
2009 Oscar Tejeda has the tools, but are they ever raw: he has speed, but is not good at swiping bases, and he has potential at the plate, but his unrefined command of the zone is keeping him back. Once Navarro was promoted to Lancaster, Tejeda took on shortstop duties full-time, allowing him to focus on his primary position rather than wherever they had room for him that day.
2008 The Red Sox compete with the Yankees to acquire the best talent not only through trades and free agency, but in the international talent market as well. This Dominican shortstop was one of Boston's big finds in 2006. In his pro debut last year, he looked to be worth the half-million or so he got to sign. Scouts adore his tools, both offensively and defensively, and his numbers are pretty good as well considering that when he got to the New York-Penn League he was the youngest player in team history. Tons of upside, but tons of development still to go.
