2013 The possibility still exists that Ryan Adams turns into a bat-first keystoner or utility player, but he'll have to battle back from a poor 2012 and an amphetamine-related suspension.
2012 Injuries in the Baltimore infield meant a windfall of starts for Adams, but he needs more development if he is to stick as a major league regular. He’s unathletic, has poor range at second and doesn’t quite have the power to play at a corner, so if he does stick, it will be as a bat-first infielder. Bundles of doubles have kept his isolated power above .150 as he has risen through the minors, but those doubles haven’t turned to home runs yet. His overall line has benefited from a perpetually high BABIP, which scouts equate to potential in his bat. Realistically, that BABIP will dip some in the majors, and he’ll likely need to cut down on strikeouts to maintain those .280 batting averages.
2011 Adams can hit, but questions about his hands at second base are rapidly solidifying into unpleasant answers, as suggested by his career fielding percentage of .936. This isn’t necessarily a disaster, since Brian Roberts isn’t going anywhere and neither Mark Reynolds nor Josh Bell inspire confidence given the former's weak hitting record away from Chase Field and mediocre glove and the latter's weak conception of the strike zone. Adams' ability to hold down another position should not be taken for granted, but his future may depend on his having the hands to play third. If not, he will fall into that neither-fish-nor-fowl category that largely precludes regular playing time.
2009 While Ryan Adams hit well enough to capture your attention, 52 errors—including a five-error game and three separate three-error days at the office—should encourage you to avert your eyes lest he hit you in one.

2012-12-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Regarding money in sports...advertising dollars are increasing because it is the ONLY thing people watch live on TV and don't record using DVR, tivo, etc. Also how about ranking these 90's bands Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Uncle Tupelo, Whiskeytown
(hankfiddich from Chinaskiglen)
wow, is Whiskeytown really a '90s band. Christ, I'm old.

I was never a big grunge guy, so I go U.T. with AiC as a distant second, then The Ryan Adams expereince, and then STP. (Ian Miller)
2012-04-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Ryan Adams? Not Bryan Adams, come on, he's Canadian.
(ttt from Work)
I don't have a problem with Bryan Adams. My 8th grade girlfriend gave me a Bryan Adams cassette for our two week anniversary. It was sappy Bryan Adams, but I made it work. (Jason Parks)
2009-03-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Heartless Bastards' new album (The Mountain) is tip top stuff, as is Ryan Adams' most recent with the Cardinals. Endless Highway is a The Band tribute album with a great cadre of covers - really tight stuff. How likely is it that Vlad falls off the truck this year? I'm VERY concerned about his attrition and 'oldness' of his body. Lots of moving pieces, none of which are looking to age well.
(Silv from NY, NY)
Vlad needs to spend all of his quality time at DH if he wants to stick around. Looks like that turf and all of the crazy running around that made him famous in his younger days have started to catch up to him. (Marc Normandin)
