2014-12-11 18:00:00 (link to chat)Who are your best bets to attain the title closer? I currently own shares of Dellin Betances, Neil Ramirez, and Bobby Parnell. Any probables in that group? Also, Any news on who offered Robertson?
(Closer to Closing from In the Bullpen)
I think you'll see Betances take the reigns at the back end of Yankees games for much of the 2015 season, and that should be a ton of fun to watch. Both Ramirez and Parnell are going to get opportunities, but I'm buying Betances more than those two. (Mark Anderson)
2013-03-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)What is your take on Bobby Parnell? Does he hold onto the closer gig and, if so, what kind of numbers do you project for him? Thanks...
(LoyalRoyal from Watchin tourney)
I'm right there with you on the tourney, LoyalRoyal, trying to keep an eye on the Butler/Bucknell game as we chat.

I think Parnell is the best reliever in the Mets bullpen, so I do believe that he can keep the closer gig throughout the season. If he does retain it, I think he'll hit the low-30s in saves, with a mid-3.00s ERA and 70 strikeouts. (I am more bullish on Parnell than PECOTA, which has him regressing this year.) (Daniel Rathman)
2013-02-15 12:00:00 (link to chat)Which lower tier closers have the best chance at becoming elite, if any.
(rupertoooo from Lorton, VA)
time to plug my closer matrix article! http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=19615 -- I would love to see David Hernandez get a shot at closing. I like Bobby Parnell, Glen Perkins, and Greg Holland. (Jason Collette)
2011-08-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who are some current non-closers whom you could see closing at the beginning of next season?
(Andrew from Las Vegas)
This is a planned article topic for the near future, but I haven't taken a super close look yet. Guys that come to mind include Bobby Parnell, Mike Adams, Luke Gregerson, Kenley Jansen, and Aaron Crow. (Derek Carty)
2011-07-13 12:30:00 (link to chat)Based on what you've seen or hear, think Bobby Parnell takes the closer's job and runs with it?
(Trevor from Queens, NY)
Yes and yes. (Ben Lindbergh)
2009-04-08 15:00:00 (link to chat)How good can Bobby Parnell be?
(Jim121 from Queens)
He could be a decent middle reliever. (Kevin Goldstein)
2008-12-11 14:00:00 (link to chat)So, the Mets are out of the Lowe sweepstakes? Who end up the fourth and fifth starters? The bullpen looks good but now the rotation has serious questions. Maine's coming off of surgery, Pelfrey's coming off of a ridiculous innings increase, and Jon Niese and Bobby Parnell are unproven at Triple-A, let alone the majors.
(SOJseth from NY)
They want to re-sign Perez and feel Niese or Parnell can make a serviceable No. 5. (John Perrotto)
2008-09-15 14:00:00 (link to chat)Bobby Parnell or Eddie Kunz: Who was the better shot to be an internal closer option for the Mets next year? Are there any reasonable internal options? Would signing an extra starter and trying John Maine there make more sense?
(Meddler from Brooklyn, NY)
I think if either of those guys is closing for you, you have problems. (Kevin Goldstein)
