2013-03-06 20:00:00 (link to chat)Any sleeper 2B for an auction draft this year?
(Cal Guy from Cal)
I still like Emilio Bonifacio, Gordan Beckham, and depending on how deep, Jemile Weeks. (Paul Singman)
2012-05-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)What is going on with Wil Myers? He seemingly went from a walk and contact / high OBP approach to a high K rate slugger? Any murmurings about a change in approach?
(ChaCha from Kansas City)
Speaking of Kevin, I just asked him about this. His answer: "More walks isn't always a good thing, fewer isn't always a bad thing. He needed a little more see ball/hit ball mentality." So now you're reading KG even if you didn't click on that link earlier.

Speaking of more walks not necessarily being a good thing: How about Emilio Bonifacio? Bonifacio is hitting second in the Marlins' order this season, and to his credit, he's seeing more pitches and walking more often. He also still hasn't had an extra-base hit. As in, a .000 ISO, after 135 PA, and his BABIP is down. You know what they say about correlation and causation, but maybe Bonifacio is better when he's up there hacking. Even patient hitters don't go to the plate trying to walk. (Ben Lindbergh)
2012-05-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any thoughts on Emilio Bonifacio's amazing non-slugging ways? OBP of nearly .350, ISO of .000. Hoping to get Miller to do some sort of historical perspective on that feat. Also raises some interesting questions on pitchers abilities to adjust to hitters' approaches.
(Gene from Kansas City)
I swear this question was just submitted, and that I'm not actually stealing interesting observations from the people asking questions. Sam will see this, and maybe he'll do something on it. I was thinking of doing something myself. (Ben Lindbergh)
2012-02-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)I think the hype in Miami is based on smoke and mirrors. I think (lack of) discipline kills the Fish this year. Opinion?
(chiefsalsa from Utah)
I don't think the fans are going to show up in droves the way Loria and Samson think they will after being abused for years by the team. I think that their shortcomings in getting on-base won't help their cause, but if Jose Reyes is right, and if Emilio Bonifacio can build on a very solid 2011, that's less of a problem than before. (Jay Jaffe)
2009-12-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)Although not nearly the defeneder Emilio Bonifacio is at 2B, wouldn't the Marlins be best suited putting Chris Coghlan at 2B should they deal Dan Uggla based on the value of his bat in the infield?
(Goose from Chicago)
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. (Kevin Goldstein)
2009-09-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)Maybin? Reaches full potential next year?
(Tim from NYC)
I think so, and I really don't get why the Marlins waited around on him while indulging Emilio Bonifacio's insufferable outiness. (Christina Kahrl)
2009-08-04 14:00:00 (link to chat)The post Nick Johnnson playoff bump for the Marlins is interesting... but does it go down the same degree if/when he gets hurt again?
(strupp from Madison)
Only if they go back to Emilio Bonifacio as an everyday player, but at this rate, he's about to become his own entry into a latter-day edition of Mackay's classic, "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds." (Christina Kahrl)
2009-04-13 14:00:00 (link to chat)I laughed when I saw CBSSports' player update that Emilio Bonifacio is currently the "front runner for the NL MVP." Seriously though -- what are the chances Bonifacio keeps hitting at a productive clip all season?
(mikeduin from Seattle)
Asymptotically approaching zero. (Jay Jaffe)
2008-07-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think Orlando Hudson will re-sign? If not, would Emilio Bonifacio be likely to take over?
(temple from Madison Wisconsin)
The only grumblings I heard about the O-dog were in the offseason, and the consensus was that him re-signing was going to be dicey. But his defense is so valuable to that team, that I think that they'll make a good faith effort to re-sign him. If not, I don't think Bonifacio necessarily takes over. I'm somewhat underwhelmed by his numbers at Tucson (.302/.348/.387) - his BABIP there is .364. Some of that comes from his speed, but he's also been lucky from an average standpoint. With no power to speak of, almost all of his value offensively derives from his speed. (Jeff Erickson)
