DateQuestionAnswer
2012-07-26 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do the Yankees really need a 3B from elsewhere?
(Alex from Anaheim)
The Yanks will have to overpay to replace A-Rod, and I think other teams know it. Plus, beyond Headley, there's not much 3B talent available, and the asking price for Headley is reportedly too steep, even for the Yanks. New York has enough firepower elsewhere to hold the line with Eric Chavez and Jayson Nix, or they could give Brandon Laird another look if either one falters. Chavez is having a fine year (he's been my AL-only Value Pick for the last few weeks, just as a fill-in) and Nix has flashed the bat now and again (like he did last night against the M's). I would stand pat unless something fantastic comes along. (Michael Street)
2011-03-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Christine. So why is there generally not much love for Cord Phelps? Most og the mil equivalencies and stuff show him to project out to around a .290/.380/4.40 at his peak, he switch-hits, plays a decent 2B (from what I hear), and has had experience at SS (Stanford) and 3B (AZ fall league). Only about 8 out of 32 ML 2B had OPS above .800 last year. Seems like he could be a beter than average 2B for a number of years. What say you? Thanks.
(jimbeau from LeftCoast)
I'm a bit perplexed by it as well... I mean, really, given that the only thing at stake is finishing in fourth or fifth place, I'd really rather see Phelps at second and Jared Goedert at third than Orlando Cabrera and Jayson Nix. Phelps and Goedert may not have all-star ceilings, but when the alternatives are locks to rank among the worst regulars at their positions, why commit to that? (Christina Kahrl)
2010-10-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Should the Indians be more resigned (Jayson Nix), hopeful (Cord Phelps), risk-taking (Lonnie Chisenhall), or irrationally imaginative (trade prospects for Chone Figgins + much cash, or Travis Hafner for Figgins straight up) with their third base situation? I am not excited about a potential Brandon Inge Era.
(buffum from Austin TX)
When you are where the Indians are, I think a combination of hopeful and risk-taking is the way to go about things. The last thing we need is to bring Figgins aboard so we can have this conversation again in three years when his contract is expiring. (Marc Normandin)
2008-08-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any thoughts on how the Olympic team is doing so far and/or Matt LaPorta getting drilled in the head?
(Steve from ND)
I know they have Jayson Nix playing second base, which makes it hard for me to take the whole thing seriously. (Joe Sheehan)
2008-05-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)how bad must the rest of my nl fantasy team be when i've got furcal, chipper, and berkman but am in 7th place out of 8?
(nicopad from brooklyn)
Jayson Nix-level bad. (Caleb Peiffer)
