DateQuestionAnswer
2015-02-16 11:00:00 (link to chat)Is there a market right now for Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro? What teams are looking for a backstop, and what could they reasonably ask for in return? Is a quality late-inning arm for the bullpen out of the question?
(JobaTheHut from Limbo)
There's always a market for passable catchers. Arizona could seemingly use him, maybe Tampa Bay, Colorado, and so on. We're talking about a one-year rental here, so I wouldn't expect a great late-inning reliever. Maybe the Navarro equivalent, whomever that may be. (R.J. Anderson)
2010-05-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)So...it may be slightly unlikely that John Jaso keeps hitting like the second coming of Barry Bonds. But how do you see his final line shaking out, as well as playing time at catcher for the Rays?
(Stephanie from DC)
Probably better than Kelly Shoppach and Dioner Navarro's lines. I think he can hit maybe .270/.370/.430. The OBP is sexy. I'm talking to Tommy Bennett right now, he says .280/.340/.430. Obviously, he's going to slug .430 if we both say so. (Marc Normandin)
2010-03-10 18:00:00 (link to chat)Any big plans this weekend?
(Miguel Montero from PHX)
Well Miguel, it's funny you should ask, because I'm actually headed to Chi-town this weekend for the annual draft in the Strat-o-Matic league in which I partake, and it just so happens that with my 4th overall pick in the draft and my dire need for a catcher (thanks, Dioner Navarro and Jarrod Saltalamacchia, really!) you and Jorge Posada keep popping up as potential choices. (Eric Seidman)
2009-12-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)Have you given up on Dioner Navarro?
(ackbar from outerspace)
No. (Bandwagon!) He's a .275/.340/.400 guy with good defense. He's been all over the map, of course, but basically he's a plus catcher. (Joe Sheehan)
2009-08-26 13:00:00 (link to chat)The most disappointing performances this year from non-injured players are...... The best non-Heyward hitting prospect is.......
(Fred from Burnaby, BC)
Dioner Navarro... Pedro Alvarez (b/c I'm biased)... (Shawn Hoffman)
2008-06-20 13:30:00 (link to chat)Will the Dodgers be dumb enough to trade Kemp? Hu? LaRoche?
(Guido from Charleston, WV)
I think this is a battle for the soul of the franchise. If Ned Colletti makes another Dioner Navarro deal with one of those guys, I think the Dodgers lose Logan White within the year, and it gets very dark and cold up from Sunset Blvd. If Colletti doesn't do that, perhaps White gets elevated into the GM's chair, and the Dodgers become the Red Sox West in three years. (Joe Sheehan)
2008-03-17 12:00:00 (link to chat)Tell me I'm not screwed with these two catchers please: JR Towles and Dioner Navarro. I know they were on your underrated list but I couldn't get one of the top 4 guys so I decided to wait until the last two rounds to get catchers.
(Steve from North Dakota)
you could do a lot worse, don't make a trade just because you hate your catchers, give them time and take from there. (Mike Siano)
2008-03-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)PECOTA was bullish on Dioner Navarro last year and bearish this year. Does his late season surge have you interested in him at all this year?
(theguag from Louisville)
I'll be keeping an eye on him, but I'm not particularly excited about him over other options. The late-season surge does help, but PECOTA does take that sort of thing into account. (Marc Normandin)
