2016 Allspice infielder Josh Wilson made the Tigers his ninth big-league team and fourth for whom he pitched. The best small sample of his career will make him randomly appear on a big-league roster near you.
2015 When Josh Wilson got the Opening Day start for the Rangers at second base, they became the eighth team he's played for in his 10-year career. Amazingly, none of those eight organizations was a part of Major League Baseball in 1960.
2014 Platinum frequent flyer status utilityman Josh Wilson surprisingly made the Opening Day roster for Arizona, then was given a top secret task in mid-June: "Find a good Polish restaurant in Reno."
2012 Wilson is surprisingly sixth on the list of shortstops by Fielding Runs Above Average-per-inning over the past three seasons combined (minimum 500 innings), with 21.5 FRAA in 1350 1/3 innings, behind usual suspects such as Brendan Ryan and Rafael Furcal. With his replacement-level bat and lack of a great defensive reputation, he is likely to start the season in Gwinnett, but could spend time as the Braves’ backup shortstop before season’s end.
2011 What better way to ensure that Jack Wilson wouldn’t be missed during an injury-plagued season than to substitute an equally anemic hitter with the same initials and surname? The younger Wilson is a Triple-A hitter at best, and he hit like one in his most extended exposure yet to major-league pitching; his batting line would have looked even worse if he hadn't crept close enough to the plate to draw 12 beanballs, which nearly equaled his paltry walk total. Ever since Willie Bloomquist’s departure, the Mariners have lacked a true designated gritter, so perhaps Wilson fills some quota for talent-deprived white guys who play multiple positions. Still, a good glove only goes so far, and Wilson doesn’t even have one. As a result, he’s miscast as anything but a short-term replacement. The Mariners having added glove-man Brendan Ryan, Wilson may find himself the long-term answer at Tacoma.
2010 Josh Wilson was a waiver-wire floater last year, sailing from team to team like an untethered balloon, but he re-upped with the M's on a minor-league contract.
2008 The Rays picked Josh Wilson up off of waivers in May and gave him semi-regular work at short and second out of desperation more than anything else. Waived at end of the season, he was claimed by the Pirates.
2006 Utility infield candidate with a little bit of pop, a little bit of patience, but not so much of either that you`d want to make a regular out of him. Traded to the Rockies for a PTBNL, Wilson will serve as insurance in case Clint Barmes loses another battle to venison, prime rib, Kobe beef, or a particularly angry pot roast.
2005 The heir apparent to Gonzalez, Wilson was named the best defensive shortstop in the Southern League in Baseball America's poll, and is probably ready to handle the position at the major league level right now. His bat, however, has needed time to adjust to each new level, and his plate discipline fell apart after a midseason promotion, so another year at Triple-A won't hurt him. He should be the Opening Day shortstop in 2006.
2004 A third-round pick in the 1999 draft, Wilson looked like a find when he hit 11 homers in Jupiter in 2002, no mean feat in a brutal park for long balls. His homers turned to doubles in '03, and Wilson's production fell sharply. A passable glove at short, Wilson is young enough to have a future. He needs to strengthen his 6'0", 165-pound frame and most importantly improve his plate discipline to get anywhere, or even to be the best JoshWil in the system.

2009-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)With Yuni going out for a month or so with a pulled hammy, should the M's go out and get a real SS (if so, who?), or punt with Josh Wilson and Ronny Cedeno? They are only 2 1/2 games behind some flawed teams.
(Buddy Biancalana from Tumwater)
There aren't any shortstops in the market. Tejada, I guess. (Joe Sheehan)
