DateQuestionAnswer
2015-07-23 17:00:00 (link to chat)Who is your favorite team to watch this season?
(Sam from OL)
I'm a Mets fan and it has been great to see the young pitching coalesce. In terms of a team I like watching on the whole, I have really enjoyed the Pirates. Gerrit Cole is turning into a superstar and there are so many young studs on that team. Their approach on the mound is terrific thanks to Ray Searage and the fans there are really energized now that they're winning on a regular basis. (Mike Gianella)
2015-04-16 17:00:00 (link to chat)If Melancon is hurt, who is the next in line to grab for fantasy? Caminero?
(Shelby from IN)
Yes. Throwing crazy hard and looking like yet another long line in Ray Searage success stories. (Mike Gianella)
2015-01-21 15:00:00 (link to chat)Who do you think is the best (or best 2-3) pitching coach in the game today? All-time?
(The Dude from Office)
There's too much going on behind the scenes for me to answer this with any sort of conviction. We hear about the extreme cases, especially when a P-coach has an observable skill - ie Dave Duncan with the splitter or Leo Mazzone with expanding the zone - and we can guess that guys like Ray Searage and Don Cooper do an outstanding job. But a realistic ranking system is difficult, and my own coaching biases would certainly come into play. (Doug Thorburn)
2014-08-29 12:00:00 (link to chat)Have you watched any of Gerrit Cole's starts since he returned from the DL? Perhaps he has righted the ship?
(RatedRookie from Atlanta)
Haven't seen either of them. Might have to check them out. I will say Cole's obviously a big-time talent and Ray Searage is a good pitching coach, so it wouldn't shock me if he's headed the right way. (R.J. Anderson)
2013-09-26 13:00:00 (link to chat)In a fantasy keeper league would you pay attention to which team drafts a good pitcher? when i took Bundy, I thought ooh the orioles--i don't know if they are very good at developing pitchers. I'm not sure if it was the org. or bundy or nobody who was responsible. but something happened then you look at seattle or tampa bay and most of their pitchers seem to pan out. anyway i am looking at drafting either kyle crick (SF) or tyler Glasnow (PITT)do you think the teams should have a bearing on my pick and which pitcher is better?
(temple from madison)
It can have an impact, but I'd still just draft the most talented players and go from there. With regards to your specific quandry, both teams develop pitchers nicely with SF having a really long track record and Ray Searage & Co. developing their record over the last couple of years. And the two arms aren't too far away skill-wise, either, so just take you favorite from the pair. (Paul Sporer)
2013-04-30 12:00:00 (link to chat)I can't quit they guy and need someone else's rational guidance on him- what an we expect from Liriano when he comes back?
(Shawnykid23 from CT)
I'm not sold on the Pirates fixing him. Nothing against Ray Searage or their coaching stuff, but neither Cooper nor Anderson could straighten him out in recent times so what chance does anyone else stand? I'm expecting more of the same from him. (R.J. Anderson)
