2009-07-30 14:00:00 (link to chat)John, does the $1m cap before approval of the commissioner's office go back to the Charlie Finley sell-off of 1976? As as Sox fan, I remember being thrilled, if I recall correctly, of getting Joe Rudi and Rollie Fingers.
(Tim from DC)
You know your history. It does go back to Rudi and Fingers being sold to the Red Sox and Vida Blue getting sold to the Yankees. All the deal were voided before those players actually played in a game, though they did put on the uniforms of their "new" teams. (John Perrotto)
2009-02-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Mr. Goldman!!! You are the finest in the land. I'm writing because I just found out that Bowie Kuhn was a Knight of Malta and it completely blew my mind. Did you know that? Does it fit in with your conception of Kuhn's politics, or his tenure as commish? And have any other commissioners been members of the SMOM?
(G-MOTA from West of Bumpus, now)
Does that mean that Bowie tried to stop Indiana Jones from getting his hands on the Holy Grail? That would have been just like Bowie. It also explains why he stopped Charlie Finley from trading Vida Blue for the head of John the Baptist. (Steven Goldman)
