2014-05-19 13:00:00 (link to chat)The D-backs have been playing much better of late than they were to begin the season. In fact, according to their record, they have been one of the best teams in baseball over the last 10-15 games. Do you see them actually getting maybe the 2nd WC? And does this take the heat off of Kevin Towers and Kirk Gibson?
(LukeH from AZ)
That's really ambitious. Not to rule anything out in May, but even if they play at a rate that would make you a playoff team, they've already spotted the field so many games that they'd have to play at a very-good-to-great team level to get there.

For instance, to get to 90 wins, they'd have to go 72-44, which is actually a 101-win pace. That's not their true talent, and I don't see it being all that close. (Zachary Levine)
2013-02-26 14:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Campana? Do you think he has a chance to break spring with ARI? I saw it as a bad sign that the young and rebuilding Cubs let him go so easily after the Hairston siging.
(JC from Chevy Chase, MD)
Campana's just a pinch-runner with nice range in the outfield, but little other value. He's a 25th man for a team that values those two skills, and the Diamondbacks might, given that Jason Kubel isn't particularly nimble. However, I don't see a spot for Campana on Kirk Gibson's Opening Day roster; there are just far too many outfielders battling for spots, and even Willie Bloomquist is seemingly on the bubble: http://www.mlbdepthcharts.com/2012/10/arizona-diamondbacks-2012-13-offseason.html#.US0Lilo4Xzs. (Daniel Rathman)
2011-05-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Nice start for A.J. - HBP on an 0-2 count and a wild pickoff throw to 1st to get Sizemore to 3rd. April is over ...
(goodwine10 from New York, NY)
These things happen. What's more interesting to me is that for all the supposed wonderfulness of Burnett's April, his ERA was only about league average... YES just flashed the names Kirk Gibson, Jack Morris, Alan Trammell, and Lou Whitaker. At least one of those guys should be in the Hall of Fame, and it's not Morris. (Steven Goldman)
2010-01-28 14:00:00 (link to chat)Is there a particular game/team/player who broke your heart as a fan?
(TGisriel from Baltimore)
Game One of the 1988 World Series. Kirk Gibson is unadulterated evil in cleats. Does it matter who played for? Of course it does, because I grew up in Northern California, and he played for one of those teams from the glamor end of the Bear Flag Republic. Grrrrr. An unhappy memory, to this very day. (Christina Kahrl)
